I’ve got mine set out on maximum as they are slightly adjustable. Obviously the extra rivet stops them being adjusted, so set it first to how far you want them to stick out. Within a few days they will become almost unnoticeable.

The side skirts you’ve fitted, do the carpet lights still work? Can’t quite make out from the pictures you’ve posted but looks like the skirts cover them?
Awesome, thanks for explaining!

Carpet lights do still work with the skirts. However, there is still a slight impact to them. Here is a picture of them with skirts installed. For me it’s still worth it as the impact is minor. There is a slight bend to the design around the light in the front of the skirts.

Posted these in another thread but keeping this main post updated. Here are the JBSpeed carbon roundels.

Install was a breeze took a little force to get them off but trim tools worked wonders. I reused the oem grommets and added my own 3m tape.

Front and rear roundels
Centercaps
Steering wheel (this was an overlay/sticker)

I’m happy with all of it and would buy these again.

Tonight I ordered the radio bezel carbon piece because why not? Will be a few weeks before it arrives.

I did receive the automotive passion front rock guards today. I can see why these need an extra rivet for install. They come flat and not molded at all. They will form/curve as you install them…they are slightly flexible. But due to this they will likely need a third rivet installed per recommendation from another member here so they sit flush in the wheel well. Due to this I did order and extra handful of these rivets. Hoping to install these this weekend.

Do any of you have a part# for these rivets... ? I really don't want to wait another 2+ weeks to order more from Automotive Passion. LOL M

I bought these from eBay. Better than the supplied AP ones. More OEM.

Yeah the ones I bought came from AP. I though they looked different as the are more of a push in style versus the ones like above that require a rivet gun.

This weekend I’m going to compare them to the ones I got from IND for the painted reflectors I never installed.

Kevin not sure how many you need but I’ll have extras from AP that I could send you if you want to pay for shipping.

I purchased replacement carbon fiber mirror caps from Aliexpress. They are surprisingly great quality, but are made for mirrors that did not already have the wing, so they don't fit.
Any search, even on Amazon result in caps that are for mirrors that did not have the wing.
Is there an inexpensive CF mirror cap for an LCI M40i that someone can confirm fits.

I think I understand correctly that you are after carbon mirror caps that have the horn part?

If so have a look at these. They are dry carbon so OEM fitment at a fraction of OEM price. I have these on mine and can confirm the fit and quality is very good. Shipping times were good also.

These are the actual caps fitted to my car.

Those look good too. You might check Autotechnik as well…when I bought mine they were running a 25% off sale making the mirror caps about $330. Otherwise I would have been looking at Ali or eBay.

Yes, thank you. Those look good but are pretty expensive. The real carbon fiber ones I got that of great quality but didn't fit were $50. These are 5x as much.

I personally don’t think it’s expensive for full replacements. I think the ones you found were just cheap! lol 😂

I suppose you could go search aliexpress and take another chance!

You say great quality but didn’t fit? Doesn’t sound like great quality then to me.

The ones for $50 will be carbon skinned over ABS plastic shells? They’ll sit slightly prouder than OEM. The ones I posted a link to are dry carbon, no ABS and fit as per OEM. Yes they are more expensive than the ones you bought but they are 1/3 price of OEM for the same fitment.

It didn't fit because it was for a different side view.
I have the OEM MSport carbon fiber caps on my other BMW and they are nothing special.
I can't believe you are arguing over "high end" AliExpress crap.

I’m not arguing with anyone, just trying to be helpful. I won’t bother with replying to you in the future then. Work it out for yourself

Did you purchase the GTX, RWS, or DTM lip from RW so I have a reference? I'm looking at RW as well. Fitment looks great and don't want to have fitment issues(if any) with Ali

RWS is the style I purchased and shared photos of in this thread. The most subtle of the three IMO.

https://www.rwcarbon.com/bmw-f97-x3m...p-spoiler.html

The DTM and newest GTX styles are far more aggressive looking. DTM is similar to mine but bigger and appears from their photos to stick out in front a bit more. GTX is a whole different style closer looking to those found on Ali with the side wings.

Thanks for the info ttx3m

Does anyone have any experience with similar front lips from Ali Express?

I know danniexi had a lip from Ali or similar and could probably share but I also know he purchased a while ago. He’s got a thread of his build on here too you could find.

Installed the carbon radio bezel trim! Was a piece of cake. If install of the center console trim was easiest (1/10) I would rate this as a touch more difficult (2/10).

Hardest part was just trying to pry away the a/c vent trim as I wasn’t sure how hard to pull.

Steps
  1. Trim tool on the bottom edge of the a/c trim to start prying it up. You do not have to fully remove just start lifting upward. I worked from right to left around the silver trim of the a/c vents.
  2. Once the a/c trim is loose pull up and out (kinda hard) until the bottom and left side releases. It should give you and inch or so of movement like in the first photo. You just need enough to unhook from the radio bezel trim
  3. Start prying the radio bezel trim next from the right to left as well in similar fashion. You’ll be able to pull it out but if it’s still hooked on the a/c trim you might need to use a little finesse on both pieces by hand to detach. You should be able to get it pretty easily if you’ve made it to this step
  4. Radio controls will be attached to radio bezel. These simply snap in place and are easy to pull out of oem trim.
  5. Install radio controls into new trim and reinstall in reverse order.

Finally installed the Automotive Passion carbon rock guards today. Fit was good but I didn’t love the rivets they sent which were push in style versus the cleaner and probably stronger oem version. I had some oem ones but found out my rivet gun didn’t have a big enough fitting. Eventually I’ll swap them out with the right tool.

Thanks to another member here it was suggested to add an additional rivet as the guards don’t sit 100% flush. They were correct and I did add a third rivet to each side. Just had to drill a hole through the guard and the fender liner to accept the rivet.

I looked up how to remove oem rivets. It’s quite easy. I used a nail punch with a hammer to push the center pin in. Then a flathead to pry enough in order to get under the plastic head with a trim pry tool to pop it out.

These are slightly adjuatable (oblong holes for the rivets) depending on how much of the guard you want exposed. I have them maxed out to expose as much as possible for maximum protection.
