I would have bought that watch if it had a second hand. I think that's the only thing that keeps me from it.

Great thread! Love a nice watch! I’m in the market now as I’m still wearing my 20 year old Raymond Weil that my wife got me. Works like a champ.

You mean this one?

Vortic Military Watch is the USAAF pocket watch - just converted into a wrist watch.

Had it over 30 years (although it quickly became a "back-up" watch) and it could never keep proper time, but the Rolex response was always that it was "within specifications". I gave it to my son as he appreciates them for some reason in his collection of brands I had never heard of. My wife's Rolex was no better at being accurate. Her's sits in a box. I have the iWatch and she has the latest Garmin Fenix. We're not trying to impress anyone or need to make a "fashion statement". The first requirement for a watch for me is the correct time, not "about".
I read somewhere that laying it down on the crown as opposed to any other way — prevents them from "speeding". Mine lives in a winder though and has no such issues. And "iWatch", seriously?)))

Whatever information about Rolex "approximate" time-keeping you may have, it eluded the Rolex technicians on 5th in NYC over the years and several visits. Given the mechanical nature of the watch, I would believe there is significant variation among the mass of watches they build and you may have been fortunate to get a "good one".

As to iWatch, absolutely seriously. Other than snob appeal or as a piece of adornment/jewelry that I find superfluous, the iWatch not only sacrifices nothing to any other watch in this entire thread, but has far more capability and is much more useful. Spending "Rolex prices" (or more) for that or comparable brands for something that does little more than move a big hand and a small hand, "seriously"?

Aww, the 5th ave store, that's where mine came from. Good to know if I did get lucky, but yes — I hear what you're saying about the mechanical nature. I just had my ten year service done and it's still good)))

No no, I wasn't trying to say anything negative, except that there is no such thing as an iWatch))) (it's called Apple Watch)

Unless of course there is an iWatch and I just haven't heard of it. In which case I feel like a perfect arse ))
