X3M- Not wide enough?
I love look/lines of the X3 M, however I have a tough time getting over the fact that the fenders/width of the vehicle looks so similar to a standard X3. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Maybe it's just me, as my favorite part of my F80 was wide fenders/aggressive stance. Thanks! |

Yep pretty much everyone feels the same way
It would appear the M division is going away from different body panels. I believe the latest g80 camo pics and renders show little of any fender flare. Time will tell for sure though. |

Agree, but even more disappointed that they didn't offer a wider wheel/tire combo! 265/255 is not acceptable for an M vehicle, certainly not the Competition! Fortunately, a relatively painless tire upgrade (and spacers if desired) makes a big difference IMO!
(295/35/21r - 265/40/21f is the way to go!) *no spacers in these pics, but 12mm all around coming soon.

I'm definitely in the minority. Doesn't bother me. I'm cognizant as a rider that having to slip my way through traffic with massive SUV's and trucks that it's good enough. We already barely get enough room to split lanes on the freeway and adding more girth just adds to the lack of awareness of the regular driver...

Yes, one is the distinguishing features of an M car is unique body panels, that is part of the premium we pay. X3M got the short end of the stick with the same hood and fenders as the regular x3, but bmw charged the full M premium.

Here is Hamann’s wide body kit for the regular X4 - it already looks more aggressive than X4M. Let’s hope they come up with wide body panels for X3 M.

At the end of the day it's really just a fast SUV that will rarely ever see track or off road duty. If I wanted a vehicle with a aggressive, low stance I would have got a car. I do agree it would have been nice to have a little wider rubber but I don't really look at this car with lust like I did to sporty cars I've owned in the past. It's an SUV after all and I got it for its utility.

Is the hood and fender likeness the same for all "X M" models going forward? I'm looking on BMW site and the X3, X4, X5 and X6 M's all look to have standard body panels/hoods. I could be wrong though. |

At the very least, I'd love for BMW to offer the COMPETITION models with a more aggressive stance (both fenders and wheels/rim), even as an option.... I'd best most would pay a premium for a wide(r) body look and larger wheels.
(I suppose the aftermarket companies are perfectly fine with the status quo)

Bought mine specifically because it looks like a run of the mill nondescript appliance. Debadged it and never washed. Blends into the background. And love that the tyres are set up agility, not looks.

M cars have always come with relatively narrow tires. Especially with awd, traction becomes much less of an issue whereby wider tires aren't needed. Seems like most people on here who have gone with wider tires have done so solely for looks and not because the original sizes were providing insufficient traction.

Yup. The X3MC should have a 10.5" rear option with 295's.
