Thank you! Agreed, not the cheapest but its good to know I have an option for my 2019. I am looking at trading in for an X5 so it might not be an issue soon anyway. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you. What RPM were you revving to in sport. It seemed very low but your exhaust sounds similar to mine. It's not popping and cracking though like the 18 and 19's do.....

Here is a video of mine in Sport mode. Notice how there are no pops and cracks. It barely burbles when it comes down. Sounds nothing like 2018-2019's.

Whoa. But that also does not sound anything compared to mine. And it seems you went to a way higher rpm than my baby 2k revs.

I went to about 4-5k. I can try and get a better video from the rear.

If you compare it to any 2018-2019 you will hear the difference. Even just any YouTube car reviewer video of revs in sport.

That definitely does sound different than the 18/19s and even the 20 posted in this thread.

It may come alive after some more miles are out on it though.

Perhaps they built yours to euro spec and you got the PPF on there!

Strange. I just tested mine. Standby for vid. I also tested the engine sound setting. When you switch it you can definitely hear the exhaust valve move. So the setting DOES change the exhaust note.

Correct. In my 2020 it is definitely louder and burbles. Maybe not as much as some say in the 18-19. But it DOES.

Sorry for the vertical video, I was in a rush.

The start wasn't cold-cold. It was driven an hour before and was still warm. I have about 550 miles on it.

You're the only here that agrees so far that the noise is completely different.

I understand that an exhaust can change slightly but the tune of the engine is what causes the pops and backfires and crackles. It's not just the exhaust alone.

I don't disagree. It is missing those cracks and pops from the video. My hope is still out on exhaust breaking in over the first 1000 miles, but I won't hold my breath. Maybe the wanted to tone it down due to the X3M. We shall see. I am NOT dissatisfied with my 2020 however.

Don't get me wrong, I love the car and it's everything I spec'd and special ordered.

I did an extended test drive with a 2019 X3 M40i and I've also driven and heard many others and I've loved how loud and obnoxious and crazy it can be with the pops and cracks. And then I drive this home and of course I'm trying to be easy on it but I want to hear a little bit of noise so I flip it to sport and go for some backfires and nothing....... it was a huge reason for me to get an X3 M40i and not an M340i or a sedan

How many miles have you done? I did a very relaxed 500 miles so far and just this week started driving a little more aggressive here and there but overall, nothing crazy and below 4000 rpm except twice when it entered kickdown.
