Collecting Car - First Drive - First Tune

In the next 10 days I should be collecting my new M40 .

I’ve been putting a playlist together for the drive home (2 hrs), but I’m stuck on what should be the first tune on the new Harman Kardon.

- Ignition on - Sunglasses on - Engage Drive - LIFT OFF.................... (3 points on my licence!)

Below is the playlist I have constructed (in no particular order), but would appreciate your help on the first tune. If I’ve missed a suitable banger, please let me know..........

Mansum - Wide Open spaces
AC/DC - Thunderstruck
Hawkwind - Silver Machine (Phytonic Blue actually)
Stereophonics - Dakota
Guns ‘n’ Roses - Welcome to the jungle
Editors - Munich
The Black Keys - Lonely Boy
DMX - X gonna give it to ya
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
SuperGrass - Sun hits the sky
Golden Earing - Radar love
Martin Solveig - Intoxicated
Calvin Harris / Ne Yo - lets go
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Bloc Party - Banquet
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (>4min40sec)
Queen - I want to break free
Free - Alright now
Kasabian - Club foot
The Strokes - Reptilia
The Hives - Tick tick boom
Jet - Are you gonna Be my girl
Lenny Kravitz - Are you gonna go my way
Death in Vegas - Aisha
The Hives - Hate to say I told you so
Tame Impala - Elephant
Apollo 440 - Stop the rock
Queens of the Stonage - Little Sister
Weezer - Hash pips
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Limp Bizkit - Take a look around
Beastie Boys - Sabotage
Black Oak Arkansas - Le Grange
Eels - Souljacker Part 1
SuperGrass - Richard III
Kula Shaker - Hush
Razorlight - In the morning
The Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight tonight
Rudimental / John Newman - Feel the love
Fall out Boy - Thanks for the memories
The Who - WonÂ’t get fooled again
Florence and the Machine - Spectrum

Thanks

Out of the playlist you provided, I would go with AC/DC as you'll be thunderstruck by your new vehicle.

The HK system is capable of phenomenal sound especially if you play hi-res (FLAC) files through the USB connector. I just put all my music on a flash drive in hi-res files (FLAC) and the sound is sooo much better than iTunes or ordinary MP3.

Great playlist! For what its worth came across this from BMW for B&W systems - don't see why it can't apply to HK!

I will be collecting my car in the next couple of weeks and will have a 2hr drive home too - so may borrow some of your playlist! 😀

I vote start off with the strokes

Throw "human sadness" by ju casa + the voids in there. That should break in your HK system nicely

My choice was easy. I bought the X3 in Macon, GA and drove south. Southbound by the Allman Brothers Band.

I'm not familiar with FLAC. What is it and how does it compare with music quality from other sources? I suspect the following are in about the correct order as far as the quality of transmitted audio.
1) CD in CD drive
2) CD copied to hard drive "Music Collection"
3) USB mp3 files ripped at from CD at 320kbps
4) HD FM radio
5 AUX, if only it were available, connection from phone
5) Bluetooth connection from phone
5) Sirius broadcast

FLAC is an audio code with lossless compression.
Way better quality then MP3.
CD Quality!

Thanks!
Is CD copied to the "music collection" HD better than 320 kbps MP3?

Not sure what format BMW rips CDs to the hard drive. I use Windows Media Player to rip CDs in FLAC (lossless) format to a flashdrive, delete the songs I don't want and download from the flash drive (select USB) into the BMW hard drive (music collection.) Or, you can buy lossless songs/albums from HDtracks.com or qobuz.com. They both sell hi-res music in a number of formats. Unless you want for itunes (ALAC format) i'd recommend FLAC format.
