No, that's the difference between the two Stage 1 tunes for the Base B58 and MPPK B58.

Doesn't the MPPK get a different intake? Maybe Dinan just isn't being quite as conservative with their tune because of that. It's possible that the improved intake could contribute 10-15hp if its a large improvement over stock. Beyond that, it's all software, and the Dinan and JB4 are using target values on the boost, so nothing in MPPK software would be adding to it. I'd be real curious if that was run on the same engine, same conditions, before and after MPPK. That's the only way to know for sure. It's no secret BMW tunes these engines differently that said 355hp. They tune the engine to the platform. And after breakin, depending on how you drove it, you'll get varying results.

If you want to see the limits of the engine then you look at what the JB4 is doing. Dinan is leaving some on the table for drivability and reliability (something I'm more interested in this time around).

We have a call into Dinan to let us know when it's ready on the M40i. Should be fun.

Please update us when this happens. Former Jb4 user but would definitley pay the extra $ for the reliability considering i purchased this one and did not lease.

The 340i/440i MPPK (I guess they call it the MPPSK now) comes with the M Performance exhaust, which the X3 M40i has standard.

But the MPPK also makes parameter and table changes to the DME, I wouldn't be surprised if it allowed for some additional headroom.

I honestly have no interest in seeing the limits of the engine, I just want a reliable, fun to drive vehicle that has a warranty.

I guess this Dinan Page is the only thing claiming that MPPK might be adding something in addition to a piggyback tune...I'd want to see if JB4 dynos prove that to be true. 16psi actual boost is 16psi, regardless of if the DME thinks it's requesting more over stock...the only thing MPPK got you over stock with a piggyback in the past was more burbles and a throttle remap.

what is the stock boost you get from a m40i and what does the jb4 allow with map 1-2-3?

Assuming the JB4 brings the HP to 400-420, a 4.1-4.2 sec. 0-60 sound about right?

(I'm soooo looking forward to doing the same!)

Looking at the Wt/Hp data from the 'Performance SAVs - Comparison Charts' [ http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1445285 ], it seems 4.2-4.3 would be more likely. 4,230 lbs div by 400 HP is still 10.6, and by 420 HP is 10.1.

4.2 - 4.3 secs... I'll take it! (would be a fun sprint against a Macan Turbo! non-PP)

Anyone have any experience with the JB+ instead of the JB4? I ordered my M40i 2 weeks ago and should be picking it up in Spartanburg the end of next week. First time BMW owner too

don't put a jb+

since its probably programmed for a none mppk b58 it might even slow it down

jb4 is care free. bullet proof and you can turn it off at any time before handing over your car for service

It looks like 93oct and Map 2 is the way to go, about 400hp is what im getting but the torque number feels nice and high, maybe 450tq

How is the drivability?
450 torque sounds a little too much no?
How much boost is this generating?

3.0i is B48 engine but a JB4 will work on this and give you about 40bhp more.
