Congrats on the production. Hope you get the steering wheel. After looking at the M40i and sitting in it yesterday I can definitely say it is an amazing vehicle. Fit and finish much improved over my past X3. I feel like it is up to 5 series levels. Can't wait to drive my 30i after it is built and delivered.

This is ridiculous. I have screen shot the US specs page saying m-sport steering and will use it and the Chicago promotional X3 with that wheel as proof that they are bait and switching the fuck out of 2018 buyers in the US.

They really are screwing the USA and Canada. But at least Canada is being offered the Individual options. So we are double screwed here.

It doesn't appear to have the final software either, the Welcome screen in the second set of pictures has a picture of a 5er instead of an X3.

It sucks, but it’s borderline comedic how seriously this is being taken. Bait and switch, like this is THE main selling feature. The steering wheel doesn’t even hit my top five of reasons to choose the M40i over the 30i. Do I wish it were available? Sure, but it’s not like it hasn’t been made clear to me what exactly my order has on it.

Bait and switch would be me agreeing to an order sheet with option 710 and not getting it. It’s clear as day what my order has and I’ve agreed to it. To those who say they had 710 and got it changed to 255 at some point, you should have been able to use that as an opportunity to back out if you wanted.

1) It’s much softer leather like an msport wheel
2) the paddles have some soft material at the back of them, not exposed as current sport steering.

It maybe be not as bad, but am waiting still waiting it out

From the beating a dead horse department....I happened to notice this listing under the Standard Specs for my M40i when I went to the MyBMW site to check on build status. There you can see build options as well as standard equipment. Under the later it still states:

Instrumentation and controls
• 3-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function M sport steering wheel with controls for audio system, cruise control, and Bluetooth® wireless communication for hands-free mobile phone3

Bad enough that they swapped it out for a lesser design.....but at least they should update all their promotional materials!!

That said, I did get to see one and the one we are getting isn't all that bad. Though I've never had a real M Sport one either.....

My dealer told me their BMW rep was there and said if the wheel was a deal breaker they will get it built with one.

I told my rep it's a deal breaker. I'm now waiting to see if they can get me an M Sport steering wheel for my build before I accept the deal.
