Some European countries are probably more aligned than some US states. Is Europe a single market? Yes it is legally.
Of course! I may be American, but I've lived in Europe, done business in Europe, and traveled Europe extensively over the past 40 years. It's one of the things that helped me learn how to chuckle at all the absurdities of life - wherever they may be.

Likewise in reverse. I’ve been based in CA and MI for long periods and worked for US companies for 40+ years too...3 big US companies and now a Boston based company.

The Canadian X4 is built on the same line as the US X4. Canada gets the option of acoustic glass in the x4 and merino leather in the X3. The US does not. You could argue that BMW wants the X4 to feel sportier so we don't get the option of quieter glass but then why do we get the far more luxurious Merino and US X3 owners do not? Clearly acoustic glass is more upmarket than regular glass and US X3 owners get this option but not the Merino. Also EU x4's get the option of leather dash, we do not....Bmw gives with one hand and takes away with the other unless you live in Canada or the EU or basically anywhere but the US, and it's not just them mercedes does this as does audi. somewhere sits some old man who's decided Americans either don't want all the options or doesn't deserve them. I do not miss the acoustic glass but had it been offered when I CUSTOM ORDERED mine I would have. my last three vehicles, 2 bmws and one volvo have all been ordered, I would rather wait, sometimes six months, to get exactly what I want than settle for dealerships choices which is a whole other can or worms. When I ordered my current X4 there was not a single US dealership with Merino red/black leather nor one on order. I asked my BMW sales manager why all the dealer chosen cars including the loaners, seems to be bare bones models and he told me its a traditional BMW dealership thing to put 3-5 options on the inventory orders and that there's a point system of allotments assigned to these things like there is to unit orders....sweet jesus the convolution.....

It's really a self-fulfilling prophecy. Most Americans buy their BMWs off the lot. Dealers fill their lots with white, black and grey cars. Therefore, Americans must only like white, black and grey cars, right? At least that's how they must think at BMWNA HQ.

Tchgrif, I'm with you . . . I'm not spending $70, $80 or $90k and not getting exactly what I want. I admit, I was anxious and wanted instant gratification when I was younger and made many regretful decisions. Leasons learned. No regrets now. I've worked way too hard and way too long to afford things like these cars. Thankfully, I only had to wait a few weeks for my red Merino leather X4. But I would have waited months!
