Does G01 require intake valve cleaning
I learned that turbo engine like G01 requires intake valve cleaning on a regular basis. But I could not find anything in the web for G01. The only info I could find is for N54 or earlier. Does this mean the G01 has been improved and no longer require this service?

I've not heard that, but I'm not an expert in that area. That said why not pump Shell V-Power regularly. That should keep the valves in order I would think

Yup. I use V-power only. sometimes I drive a few extra miles just to get V-power gas from neighboring town. But my understanding is that being a turbo engine, the gasoline NEVER gets to the back of the intake valve to clean it off. So over time, the soot will accumulate. |

IT's not the turbocharger that is the issue, it's the engine's direct fuel injection system, read this https://redlinespeedworx.com/blog/va...asting-service

That article covers N54/55 engines. Not sure it's an issue in B58 or S58 engines?

Curious to see how to handle this issue. Considering G01 was available in the market as early as 2016. I imagine this issue should be dealt with fairly soon for some folks.

I'd be curious to see if this is a perceived or real issue (on the late model engines). One of my bmw's had about 70,000 miles over nearly 4 years (owned, not leased) and vehicle never exhibited any performance issues or misfires etc. That was an N52 non-turbo mind you, assuming that makes a difference. In any case, real or perceived I suppose is the real question, one I'm not qualified to answer. I just pump the v-power (95% of the time).

For non-turbo engines, the intake valve is rarely a problem. Gasoline injectors located behind the vlaves wash back of the intake, and any residues will be effectively removed. Gasoline is an excellent solvent. The intake valve is a problem for turbo engines because the injectors are located inside the chambers. The back of valves never get chance to be cleaned. To make the matter worse, some turbo 'recycles' a small portion of exhaust to reduce emissions and therefore, more residues depositson the back of intake ....

Really only seen issues with earlier direct injection engines. N54, N63, M57. Maybe slightly on N55 but haven't seen issues yet with newer engines. B58M in 340i has been around since 2016 now, higher mileage vehicles can be in excess of 50k miles. Haven't seen any excessive valve deposits yet. Only time will tell but BMW has been improving the crankcase system to help prevent intake valve deposits.

I came from an N54, and performed the walnut blasting clean for the carbon build up, not an easy of cheap exercise.
What we need for the G01 B58 is an effective oil catch can setup! |

People with B58 with catch cans have been seeing minimal oil collection. Only really seen issues with excessive oil reaching the intake in high horsepower/upgraded turbo setups.

Top tier gas as I mentioned and a bottle of Techron occasionally will minimize buildup.
