My X3 was delivered a month early!
I was very lucky and my dealer got an extra allotment for February! I wasn't expecting my car in until April 1 so I'm elated right now!
My sport-luxury-on-a-budget build: xDrive 28i Space Grey Black Leatherette Sport Auto (2TB) "Premium Package Enhanced (Canada)": - X-Line - Power hatch - Harmon Kardon - Comfort Access - Pano Roof - Navigation Chose the leatherette to save a few $$ and also because I have a toddler and another baby on the way and I think my only regret is that there was no option to get sport seats without leather. The biggest surprise is that the addition of Sport Auto w/ Paddles also added Sport+! It also shifts REALLY fast (or seems that way, I'm coming from a manual Civic Si). I was driving around aimlessly last night, marvelling at how smooth it is, while enjoying the HK sound system! It's about to snow here (booooo!!!) but here is a pic I grabbed before the snow gets a chance to dirty up my new baby: And here is my pleasant surprise - Sport+!! |

Thanks guys! My wife chose the colour. I was going to go with the blue but she thought "Space Grey" was nicer.
Am I supposed to break this thing in? The dealer said there is no break-in period necessary, but I'm still afraid to go wide-open-throttle (or anywhere near that) until 1000 km because of habit and the desire to protect my investment. |

The manual says to not run it out hard for the first 2K kilometers I think. I didn't look at the manual until I'd already floored it a couple of times....none worse for the wear, thought.

It is advised to make a few longer trips the first 1500 km (so not only 5 km trips to the supermarket, because than the engine will never get warm). Turbo-engines (always): after driving fast or with high rpms, it is very important to slow down the last few kilometers of your trip. Also keep the engine running a few seconds before turning it off. This way you will prevent the turbo's from running on without oil, after the engine is switched off.

I did floor it ... once, in comfort mode, but the engine was very much warmed up. Thanks for the tip about the last few km of a trip. That's good to know! |
