Canadian headlight function

Since 2022 model year, in the Canadian market every new vehicle sold must have auto lights that can’t be turned off. Mine is a 2021 but appears to function the same way. Even with the headlight switch turned to off, the lights still turn on and off on their own.

Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this, with coding or otherwise?

No, its hard coded so that boomers don't drive at night with their lights off. Or at least its not codable to my knowledge...

Binmercode. Can set so that when in off, the auto lights are off. Will still work when in A (auto) though which is great.

This, it's an option in Bimmercode. I just coded it, but haven't tested it.

I can't test because the AM market turns off and only has DRL's when off. Good to know.

Plenty of idiots that still do and apparently some that want to code it off.

Excuse me? I like having the control/option to turn my lights completely off at night with the car running, eg if I pull up to someone's house to pick them up and the lights are shining at someone etc.

Because when pulling into and out of my garage, even on bright sunny days, the lights turn on for only a few seconds. That's the only reason I like to be able to turn them off. Luckily, I am self-aware enough to not drive around at night (or in the rain, when the auto lights don't turn on) without my lights on. Additionally I'm not one of those drivers who believes the blue light on the dash means their headlights are on.

Ok thanks, I bought a dongle but haven't purchased the app yet.

They do though, if you have the automatic wipers turned on and there is enough rain to activate them.

Ok that's good. My other cars they do/did not, which I always thought was pretty dumb. On the highway in the rain around here I would say at least 1/4 of the cars don't have lights on.
