BM3 anyone?

I had a BM3 stage 1 OTS tune on my X5 50i. I can't say enough good things about them. The difference in power was incredible. Anyone here have a BM3 or DME tune on their M40i? If so, how do you like it?

If you'd rather not comment here, please send me a PM. Thank you!

I've tuned my 135i, but don't plan on messing with my future X4 in that manner. That said, my buddy who works at BMW NA has mentioned that a simple plug-in JB+ for the B58 even at default 50% setting doesn't throw codes and transforms even the heavy SUVs into rockets on the butt dyno.

The JB+ is a simple plug in piggyback that tricks the boost pressure sensor to increase more boost and power. A full JB4 or any flash tune will be far better and smoother power, with options for maps and customized settings.

If you're gonna tune it, might as well go for the full flash tune instead of just the appetizer lol.

Regardless, and I'm sure you're already aware, any tune can void your power train warranty. Any flash tune is detectable with ISTA at the dealership. End of story.

Did you have just the stage 1 at some point or did you go straight to the stage 2? I'm guessing you need a DP for the stage 2 tune, right?

What dreshxdough said. If I do it, it's going to be an ECU tune. I've no experience with the jb+ but have heard from people who've done both that the difference between a piggyback and a true tune is night and day.

@freshxdough, did you have your DME bench unlocked locally in OC? I have the 20/07 software update that includes Android Auto and understand that the DME is locked and cannot be flashed by BM3 through the OBD2 port. Any advice on a work around or local reputable tuner here in OC that can bench unlock?

Mission Performance in Ontario can bench unlock it. That's who I went to.

BM3 cannot unlock the DME with the newer model BMWs via the ethernet cable?

No. I believe all B58TU need to have bench unlock before flash tuning. 06/21 and newer DME can not even be bench unlocked yet due to DME locks. Companies are currently working on it.

Does anybody know if the B58TU has been unlocked by pro tuning freaks to flash via ENET cable?

2018 X3 M40 stage 2 with VRSF downpipe. Love the power, the sound and fooling around with the options in the map. A real weekend tuner I tells ya!

I've had BM3's tune on my '19 X3 since it came out. Installed with about 10k miles on the car and I've had it problem free the past 3.5 years and I'm just about to roll 70k miles. Started ST1, then onto ST2, and now on ST2+ with the TU fuel pump.
