2020 Alpine White X3M

It's done. I picked this X3M up this evening.
2020 base model X3M, Alpine White, Black M Sport Seats, ventilated seats, carbon fiber trim, exec package. It came with the 21's but I had them switch it to an available set of 20's and Pirelli P Zeros with low mileage. Its not the spec I'd order (Sakhir Orange seats) but it's close enough and I got a great deal that I couldn't pass up. Plus I prefer the analog gauges and iDrive 6 of the '20 models.

So far I love it. The ride I was concerned about is OK for Charlotte roads. They actually set the front tire pressures a bit low so I'll bump them up tomorrow. On some interstate driving I was averaging over 21 mpg until I hit some side roads and had some fun with it. Here are some iPhone shots. I'll post nicer ones later as I might hit the mountains tomorrow and join the crowds up there.

I hope you got some credit for the wheels. The 21's are a $1200 option on the base model

Are there any owners manual links on the forum? I can't find one.

And yes, I got additional $ off for the swap to the 20s.

You can access the owner's manual on the BMW site. Use your BMW log-in credentials, navigate to My Garage, and select your registered vehicle. Go to View Vehicle Profile, scroll down the page, and click the link to Find Your Owner's Manual.

You can also access the owner's manual through iDrive in the car, and through the BMW Driver's Guide app if you have it downloaded to your phone and/or tablet.

As GmanJeff indicated, and also here is a direct link that I use (just have to copy/paste your VIN from a document on your sys and it opens specific to your vehicle). Not a complete manual IIRC, but has the basics. I also use the Tech documents which are posted in the Stickies section.

Got it. Thanks!

I was hoping to be lazy and find it here. Some forums do have a link.

First impressions after a 250 mile drive up to the Blue Ridge Parking Lot.

Average MPG was 19.7, not bad considering all the traffic and some mountain driving fun. It looks like 21 is max when highway cruising. But that's a far cry from the 30 mpg of the M550i and 26-27 of the M2 Comp.

Steering is good, quick, almost touchy, unlike the M550i that had some play. Comfort was fine for sporty driving. Sport just added heft, not feel.

Handling is beyond expected for any SUV type vehicle. I did bump my tires up too much thinking the gauge I was using was 2 psi off. But I ran 36/38 all day, intending to be at 34/36. Ride wasn't bad except for some pot holed areas.

Performance was great although I didn't have too many opportunities for max accel, and I'm still in break in. I was surprised at the downshifts on interstate. 8th gear can be as low as 1500 rpms and it wants to drop a gear on just moderate hills. I'm used to the M550i pulling from 1300 rpm.

It is quite a nice vehicle and 6 hours seat time was just fine despite my bad knee from some of the short hikes.

You should be able to achieve 23-25mpg on the highway especially at those tire pressures. I average around 23.5 and I'm running 32/35 tire pressures.

Congrats. Have a non comp version too and I really enjoy it. I agree the vehicle rides fine on most roads but ones with potholes like most performance vehicles is a bit rough. The X3M is probably my favorite vehicle right now.

Great looking vehicle! "Base" model, haha. Like anything of this model range could be considered base! And your MPG should go up as you break it in. Took a 600-mile trip to Maine last weekend, and averaged 23.1 (at 75-80 mph the whole way)

How the hell are you getting that kind of mileage?

I've driven from NYC-Detroit-NYC 3 times and NYC-Vail-NYC but my best ave MPG was 18.1

I think some just believe the mpg indicator on the dash, versus dividing the miles by gallons at fill up (and keeping a log of the math).

Congrats! Fantastic looking X3M. Love seeing the base 20s...actually prefer them to the 21s as well.
