Honestly, it would have been better if they attempted no visual changes from the regular X3 and just rebadge it with a different badge. If anything, the minimal changes they applied, made the car look worse in every respect.

The 330e and 530e went this route and seemed to be doing reasonably well.

Why does BMW insist to add that ugly "electric" blue trim?? They ruined the i8 doing this. The best i8's you see are the ones wrapped that instead of looking like tron vehicles they look similar to Lamborghini's.

Imagine if Tesla started adding a different hue to their cars to present that it was "environmental"

The iX3 will use a 74-kilowatt-hour battery with the single electric motor making 286 horsepower (210 kilowatts) and 296 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque, and it’ll power the rear wheels. It’ll have an estimated range of 273 miles (440 kilometers) in Europe’s forgiving WLTP test. Its U.S. EPA range doesn’t matter for now, as BMW said last month that it has no plans to bring the iX3 to the U.S. market.

So its range isn't very good considering its size.. and i's not fast either.

I ask this every time... Why am I buying this? Why am I choosing this vehicle? People assume I'm being snarky, but I genuinely can't relate to why I'd buy one of these. The only explanation I have is to buy one for virtue signaling.

When I was competing in mountain biking.. there were small companies that made really trick looking billet aluminum derailleurs. While they looked good, they were much more expensive than a Shimano XTR, didn't shift as well, and nowhere near as prevalent so spare parts were rare. I feel like EVs are like this. There might be some appeal someplace but overall are an expensive compromise that is on the wrong side of logic.

Something more along the lines of if we bought a car within 6 months or a year we could get a newer one with out paying an arm and leg because you'd be credited with what you've already paid. Maybe half of the down payment and payments made. Something like that. I'd rather go hybrid/electric then straight up gas. Don't get me wrong I love my X3 but had the hybrid been available I'd gone for it.

You do realize that the blue trim is a color option on the i8, right? You either get blue or grey accents.

In fairness, that's what people have been asking for: an EV that's just an ICE with a different engine.
