It is possible that my comparison is not an apples to apples one on the S55. So, your question is exactly the question that should be asked.

A few people on the f80/82 forum using the S55 tune say that the ACN91 has "slightly" less power, yet we don't have figures for ACN91 stage 1 from the source: Bootmod. All we know is that it's a more powerful tune than the stock M4 GTS tune (493HP) and less powerful than the non-ACN Stage 1 91 tune ~550hp.

The very strange thing is that on the Bootmod3 site, the only engine with ACN91 actually listed is the S58. All of the other engines do not even have the power gains listed for ACN91.

Anyway, here is a post that shows the S55 on ACN91 is very close to Stage 1 non-ACN 91.

I mean... not a true apples to apples, you have different mods on each car and it isn’t just a “tune” only. Figures on the first post are tune only and when you introduce different mods who knows how the car will react...

FWIW on my N54 in California, I have run a 91 Octane tune for the past 55k miles and not a 91 ACN tune without any issues.

I just flashed 93 Stage 1 Saturday. Seen some draggy times. 0-60 2.8 secs and 1/4 mile 10.7-10.9. The car is an absolute animal after I flashed it! BM3 did it again.

What's up with stage 2? Didn't see much info on it. Just more boost? There isn't a ton of supporting mods yet, so I assume there is no hardware requirements?

Thanks

I have an X3M comp and it would only give me about 4% more hp. On my S55, I am getting 20% more hp with the ACN91 tune.

Maybe we are starting with a VERY conservative tune for ACN91 to avoid knock on early "test customers"?

Don't get me wrong, I love the tune on my S55 and Bootmod3 is awesome.
Stage 1 ACN91 octane: 11%HP / 25% TQ a low quality fuel is not bad actually. Thats 560 HP / 552 TQ from a simple tune.

Im sure with time, newer maps will be more aggressive.

It also depends on how much BMW are pushing the car stock
Will the non competition vehicle come with the same power as competition on stage 1 91 octane?

Do you worry about something breaking because of the tune?

The advertised power is for the non-comp. The better question might be the inverse. However all information indicates power between the two is very close plus no real differences except the muffler so technically should be about the same ie negligible either way. I would expect comp to be slightly less overall gain as a percentage of rated power.

I'm really curious what the differences in the muffler is, I too know that parts is different between the comp and non-comp.

I doubt there is a measurable performance difference with comp sport exhaust. It's gotta be just an auditory upgrade.

Bootmod3 is reliable and safe, nothing to worry about.

You can also datalog and monitor how well the car is responding to the extra power.

Any initial impressions from people who have BM3 in their X3/X4M? Did you feel/measure the performance increase as advertised? Does it run smoothly? Any other problems?

My car is STRONG with the tune. Feels like a totally different powerplant. I actually flashed back to stock to compare, and I was shocked at how slow the car felt compared to the tuned version.

Koturbo, thanks for the feedback! Is it Stage 1 or did you do the downpipes? Any problems so far, check lights etc?
