Seat belt tightens too much? Any fix?

I'm guessing most of you have noticed that the seat belt tighten around your chest

While it's a nice feature, I'm finding them too tight and often really annoying

I'm assuming it could be coded out through bimmercode but haven't found much info in regards to it

Anyone else annoyed at the self tightening seat belts? Perhaps someone that found a fix too?

The tensioner lasts all of half a second, hardly noticeable

It’s a first for me having a tensioner. I like the hug it gives me.

You must've less than 1000 miles.

Just fight it back like a man. Let the car know who's in charge.

My daughter calls it, "Ester", from the movie Orphan. You don't see her when she sneaks up behind you to make sure you're tucked in nice and tight. Haha

It's always a bit fun the first time someone rides with me, and the seatbelt startles them. Just the car showing a little love.

Okay, humor aside, I actually have a stomach condition with subsequent hypersensitivity.

I often have to hold the seatbelt in my hand and pull it away because the pain is unbearable on my chest.

So yeah, it is something I would like to fix/disable.

I thought it only pulled by the upper shoulder.

Or maybe I don't feel it since I got some belly far absorbing it.

When I got a chance, I'll look into the coding line.

Just because you are not aware of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist!

Dav3 - This was driving me absolutely NUTS when I first got the car and I was holding it with my hand to prevent it and was looking for ways to break it. A lot of people thought it was not worth complaing about but that's their opinion and not mine.

It was also a safety issue for me since I would often be leaning forward to see traffic and it would push me back in the seat.

I'm happy to report that it seems to have gotten much less intrusive over time. I think it learns your size/resistance and softens up.

I was unable to find any way to disable it but it has not bothered me in a while. I should note it was not me just getting used to it as I have another vehicle without this horrific "feature". It just pulled less to the point of where it is a quick snug rather than a forceful pull back into the seat.

Give it time...

Really appreciate the response, lot of peope really don't understand that for some of us, it's actually a big annoyance

As a safety issue its also a problem with me, sometimes it grasps too hard and I end up just removing it and placing the diagonal belt behind my back (which is half a death sentence if I would end up crashing)

I guess (and hope) with time it eventually tightens less... Still, can't believe they couldn't code the sensitivy % or a on/off switch through iDrive. Still believe a coding option must be available, probably will have a look too in advanced mode on bimmercode

agree - im at about 5000m and said this to wifey the other day, "it seems to have softened an awful lot"

its a long wait though if it is giving you serious discomfort.

I recall someone else posting that their vehicle (either MB or Porsche?) had this feature but you could disable it through the onboard computer.

I'm starting to remember how angry I used to get at first with this feature It was like I was fighting my car!

There may be a coding option but I'm weary of expert mode!

My 2015 X5 had the self-tightening feature when I bought it but it turned itself off after a few DIY coding sessions 🙂 I'm trying to figure which function this is in the ACSM module, I think it's the Automatenstrammer_Fahrer in CAFD3000 but playing with it does nothing...
