Exclamation Mission Performance | Selectable RWD for F97 via iDrive | World First | Video added

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I had the opportunity to ride in this car (Alex's personal X3M - Alex owner, tuner etc at MP) about 2 weeks ago when I was at the MP shop having my M340 flashed and catted DP installed.

It was running straight E85 and pushing nearly 30lbs of boost and it was phenomenal. I'll leave the performance details to Alex when he wants to discuss.

You all are a lucky bunch - if Alex has a particular car in his stable all kinds of super cool things come of that - he generally tunes what he drives and what interests him

That aside this dropped into my IG just now and figured I would share for anyone that is interested in the worlds first rwd x3m :-)

ps-the 2wd option was not in play when I saw him - this is new

Just gotta make sure tire pressure up to the spec or there'll be "it'll buff out" comments.

Not used to throwing a fat boat around, but still fun way to test out the mod and make sure everything functions as it should. For now, this will be something that we offer only to local customers, but will be implemented into the app in the near future.

That was done on our full E85 10.6s all stock F97 and tires really really didn't like it.

This is awesome!

not to jack the thread, but is there anywhere you have posted info about running straight e85? Any fuel upgrades, etc? (if you have a link that would be awesome )

Very nice 2WD mod! Can you share some info/numbers to your new F97 tunes? Thanks in advance!

Suffice to say with my 19 year old Son in the back seat....I asked him to record an acceleration video and he tried but couldn't keep the phone steady as he was thrown back in the seat (I know sounds dramatic but that was sincerely the case) - after the run we just laughed and clapped our hands, it just seemed like the right thing to do. In my 49 years - I've only ever experienced acceleration like that in a tesla on ludicrous mode. I can't wait to hear about HP/TRQ numbers.

You all are a lucky bunch - if Alex has a particular car as his daily driver all kinds of super cool things come of that

Wait!!! How do I unlock the rwd mode?

As stated above, we are keeping this as something for local customers only. In due time, we will be adding RWD flashing support for customers via our app.

My hat off to you for being the first to market with this capability. After seeing our M5 predecessor (transmission-wise), we knew it was physically possible, just not allowed, by BMW. Thank you for enabling this option.

Crazy. So no RWD only option was just a software nerf compared to M5. Bravo unlocking this! I bet you can even get away with keeping warranty coverage as it's basically an OEM feature.

I get the hope and I'm right there with you logically, but good luck making that argument to BMW if something goes wrong.

That's hilarious. At the same time, technically you're gaining a little efficiency in RWD mode (obviously that doesn't apply to when you're doing donuts)

So they chucked in the same transmission/differential/drive and just coded out the 2WD option from the M5.

There's not a lot of applicability for a 4600lb SUV to have RWD mode aside from doing donuts so I get why BMW didn't include it even though the hardware is the same.

Didn't say there was....although the rear bias nature of the M xdrive is great especially when compared to the numb haldex applications found in VW group products.
