First Mod: BM3 or MSS + 12mm Spacers

Hey Guys,

New owner of a 2020 x3m Comp, this is my 3rd BMW other cars were N54 E82, and F30 N55.

So I'm trying to decide on my first mod on my x3M comp, still in break-in period with 182miles so I'm leaning toward MSS + Spacers.

What were your guys first mods?

Thanks,

Haha, just kidding. Go fast or look good, I'd say start with look good and then do the go fast. Give you time to enjoy it non-tuned.

I would definitely wait to tune until after the break in period and first oil change.

Since you are local, just bring your car to r33_RGSport and he will mod the crap out of it. I wish I could bring my car to him.

I went with 15mm all the way around for the more aggressive stance.

How's the handling with the 15mm all around?

I got the MSS and H&R spacers installed at the same time so I can't tell you if it's any improvement with just spacers. I took my car out for a canyon run last weekend and it handled A1.

Sounds good- I'm going to take your (and Ben's) suggestion and go with 15mm all around.

I did this as I was a bit skeptical on the look of the 15 in the front. Next time around I'd go 15 all around, but no issues with the 12/15 setup here

Are you running on OEM tire sizes? I'm on:

265/40/21 in the front
295/35/21 in the rear

Not sure If that impacts whether to go with 12vs 15mm spacers

Yea I'm running stock tires. I'm sure Ben can let you know if 15mm will work with your tires.

15mm spacers all around with the 265/295 setup will work just fine. (that's my intention as well.)
You'll get a slight poke... the perfect aggressive stance.

Do you know the story where r33_RGSport ripped off a piece of his interior trim and mailed it to me? This was insane... true story.

Depends on your immediate tire aspirations. I too went 15mm all arou d with stock sizes around and am very satisfied with the result. Have plans to widen you rubber? You might not need to go to that extreme. Local quality of asphalt and kick up should also influence your decision as the wider you go, the more susceptible you become to fender chips from kick up. I went 15mm on factory tires for now with 360 ppf to protect from pebbles thrown. Works great for me in this environment.
