New X3 Owner
I just replaced my 2012 335i Sport Line, which I loved with a 2017 X3 35i M Sport. So far I am enjoying it, but still kind of miss the 335. Since buying I have had the wheels painted black because I wasn't crazy about the rims as they were. I've never been a huge fan of the black on black "murdered" look but to me the rims were just made to be black. Also I've tinted all the windows with ceramic tint including the front with clear air 80, cause I live in TX and drive a black car.

Agreed. I have same wheel set up on my 2016 F25 and had them powder coated black.
Looks waaayyy better. Any more mods forthcoming because you can do quite a bit with that engine?

I think I'm done blacking, it was never my intention to black it all out. Considered tinting the tail lights or a black grill but that's just too much.
I'm considering powder coating the calipers blue but honestly that may be more of a pain than it's worth since this is my only vehicle. I don't know if I'll mess with the engine or not, I put a JB Plus on my 335, which was fun, but promptly exploded the charge pipe, took it off for warranty repair and never put it back. I still have it, I'm sure it will work on the X3 but not sure if I want to mess with it and the potential issues coming from it. |

I recognize your name, I think we have had a similar progression of BMWs. 2009 E90, 2012 F30 - 2017 F25 |

I used to be the same way. I recently started liking black rims, especially on lighter color cars, as a contrast. A few of my neighbors have black on black cars, including BMWs and well it's just different than every other black X3 out there. I can't say I like it better than the way it was, but I don't dislike it either. Like I said before I like the rims A LOT better black, it's like they should have been that color to begin with I wasn't too fond of them before and I'm not really one that pays too close attention to rims.

I'm not a fan of that wheel in it's original finish, but the gloss black you used gives it an entirely different (and attractive) look.. Nice!

Agreed and thank you. Like I said before these rims were made to be black and they did an exceptional job on them. I've never been a rim guy but now that I have gotten used to the look I love them.
