Screen Trim misaligned
Just got my new M40i a few days ago, great car. However I just noticed a gapping whole in the screens trim. Is this normal? If not would it fall under warranty?
Thanks! |

Miine also has a small gap at the similar location. Brought it back to dealer and they replaced it a few months ago.

people are a little too picky here... this is just the way the tolerance was designed

Mine may be a mm less than that picture but there is still a gap. I’m picky about panels aligning (had my entire center console replaced) and this doesn’t bother me.

I would not touch that unless it’s making noises. Would hate to make it pretty but noisy.

I checked my local listings, seems like most don't have that big of a gap:

The piano black console in those images does not rekindle any favorable memories. The dash gap in those images looks like mine. |

I just looked at mine closely this evening for the first time ‘cuz of this thread GAP But there’s no way I’m gonna agitate to get my dealer to “realign” it. My bet is that things would only get worse going forward if I did Ignore it |

I'm certainly hoping it's as beautiful as that, as that's what I've ordered having only seen online (dealer is moving locations, so colour/trim sample board wasn't available). Had a shock when checking my VIN on bimmer.work and saw... "S4KG Finewood Int Trim Ash Grey Brown H-Gl" Brown? HG? Does that mean "high gloss"? Uh oh. No options for gloss brown (in the UK) so quick search and found the vehicle below for sale in Utah - with gloss brown wood trim. Checking the VIN details of that car it turns out 5UX43DT07P9T16138 was built on the same day as mine. Has the trim option changed? Stomach is doing flips now! But it does look like there is another (different) option listed for that: "S4K1 Fine Wood Oak Dark/High Gl/Acc Pearl Gl". Don't quite get why the ash trim (which I believe is very dark grey and matt) would include "brown" or "high gloss" in the description. Now keeping everything crossed, as avoided carbon fibre as didn't want a gloss trim, and my other half will kill me if we end up with gloss brown (old man 1970s Jaguar style, in her eyes!!)

Thanks folks for the feedback. “Glad” im not the online with the issue. Imo, that gap should not be as big. I’ll ask the dealer if they can fix it without breaking anything

Like someone else said this could be tolerance in the design to handle excessive heat and cold. Since so many have this, I’d be more worried a tech pulling apart your dash and down the road you start hearing creaks, what happens then? More issues.

Oh, hell no, for a "new" car (was it built at Africa or what?) !
And right at the light of sight for LHD, that's a total ghetto look, i would get that fixed, come on man! But, that's just me. I don't see anyone else sharing their ghetto look. Mine is perfect, FWIW, ID6. |

UK car built in the US. Best photo I have on file without taking a new one. Never noticed a gap before but looks like there is one.

I stand corrected.
G01 ID7 do suck after all in fitment, lol. If you want things done right, get the Germen's to do it. |
