Yes the LCI models have the new OTS E50 although it's much faster it is also because the Fuel System is so stout that they can still make an OTS E50 but there's still MORE power left on the table with a Good Custom E50-E60 (cooler climates) and E60-E85 on hotter climate regions
Interesting. So the LCIs get the E50 while the pre LCIs don't?

Well a little update. We are still working through the map to try and fix the timing and there are some knocks at higher RPMs (4800, 5800)

Tomorrow I was suppose to head to the drag strip with the tune but I might need to grab the BM3 OTS Stage 1 93 for tomorrow. Was really hoping to run Paul's for tomorrow.

Edit: so I filled up 93 octane 75% of the tank and then added 2gallons of e85 (was told it tests at e80). Ran my same map that I'm currently getting knocks on and had no issues. Everything looks great

Will be running the half baked tuned tomorrow, which is likely still better than the OTS map.

Thanks BrockDM

FSociety I got the e85 from power gas in east orange.

First time at the track and first time ever trying Launch control with this car.

First pass: tried to engage launch control, forgot to put the shifter into Sport while all the other settings were set to Sport plus. Thought launch control engaged and ended up redlining in first gear lol. got 13.8

Second Pass: did much better, got launch control set right at the light, jumped the light though. got 11.55 @ 121

Third pass: had issues with getting launch control to engage, got 12 something.

This is with the current tune thats half baked (not dialed in yet) and im getting throttle closures from 2800 to 4200, so that hurt my time a lot.

Hopefully we get this dialed in before the next time I go which is in end of October / Early November.

looking for some 10.9s!

So that was with the custom tune or where you having throttle closures with the OTS tune?

Current throttle closures (that we are working through) on the custom map.

93 octane isnt always the best (all the time). So we're basically taking it to the upper limits of "shitty" 93 octane and then dialing it down from there to get the max of what average 93 can offer.

Youll get there with some silly fast #'s once the tune is completed.
PJT was able to get my M40i to faster times that what youre getting now on your X3M.
But I went through 40+ revisions, once Paul is done it's game over for the competition.
No I dont get sponsored to say this.

Same here. I have a stage 1 BM3 so I'm thinking I'll hit up Paul once I change out the downpipes after the new year and see what we can do.

Might be the same LPFP, if anything the Turbo Inlets could be different.

So they made the LCI match the G80 in every term (cost-saving and more power to be made)

Great thread. I'm cursed with no E near me, so I'm likely going this route of a 93 tune. Currently stock so my main question...

Do you all think it's worth it go custom 93 tune stock vs the OTS BM3 stg 1 tune? Is it "that" much better and worth the additional $7XX.00.

I would say only worth it if you're into drag racing.

Otherwise, for just spirited driving in the highway, even stock is good enough.

You seem to have a much better understanding of the tuning process, reading the logs, etc. then myself. I'm assuming that as I long as data log and send them over, Paul will be able to identify any issues though the logs correct?

I've never done a custom tune and refine process, so I am unsure I'd be able to notice any physical drivability issues that would warrant me reaching out to Paul...

I know a little bit to get by but I'm far from an expert.

As far as logging and sending it over, yes you can send it over to him and have him review it, which he does anyway and then he makes changes based on how the car reacted to the previous tune.

When you drive the car you'll notice if it doesn't feel right (if it's accelerating as your expecting, if it's running out of steam at a certain rpm, etc), you can log and try to replicate the issue and then send him the log and tell him about what rpm it happened or whatever conditions were met where the issue occured.

When I log, I review the log and mention what I'm seeing in the log to Paul and then have him review it. He does address every single comment I ask him about what I've seen in the log and then he will make changes that I've asked or what he thinks will be best.

I may just bite the bullet then. I've been reading other threads on other models, and it looks like nothing but great results and service.

I might go with custom 93 as well.

My suspicions that BM3 felt slower than Racechip was confirmed.

I tried Stage 2 E30 OTS at the track and I wasn't impressed. It was slower in time and mph than Racechip although the weather was about 13 degree hotter, but I was also about 50 lbs lighter after the new exhaust and removing spare tire.

Best Stage 2 E30 was 11.44 at 123 vs 11.26 at 124.5 for Racechip on 93.

Racechip is definitely superior than OTS BM3 even if the fanboys don't like it.

Mixing fuel also sucks and ethanol has awful mpg.

Were you running enough ethanol? This doesn't seem right. I ran a 10.82 @ 126 on the BM3 Stage 1 E30. Everything else was stock, no spare.

I was closer to E55-60. Maybe it was because I'm on the stock 255/265 tires. Otherwise, it might have been the 82 degree weather. Fairly disappointed with this.
