If anyone can measure and publish the dimensions of the bushings (or mail me their old OEMs), I'll happily make a design for printing 95A TPU bushings in a Bambu Labs X1C. The print quality of the FJ and Bolt Saver parts is pretty funny to me.

There is zero need to spend so much for these kits that aren't Poly.

I have a fantastic quality print profile for TPUs.

Have you seen Clint's Bolt Saver II (that's gone through numerous revisions to get it to where it currently resides)... ? Have you seen the cutaway version of it posted with numerous strategically sandwiched layers of CF rings giving it the rigidity it has... ?

I had the FJ kit installed today. Everything feels good so far.

I'll update if anything changes.

That is exactly why I'm asking . There are people who do these things as a hobby, and then there are others that have YT channels. All I'm asking for are is for someone to use a pair of digital calipers and grab 4 dimensions off the OEM bushing assembly in MMs. The print quality on the Bolt Saver is a HARD NO to someone who does this on a daily basis. Not to mention the extrude cut of his text creating tons of stress concentrations on his parts. I also don't just want to make an end insert, but to replace the entire bushing with a solid 95A TPU bushing with steel insert.

But thanks for trying to squash the open source community development of common solutions. Basically, if you have access to a X1C and a TPU filament spool, I'll provide everything you need. I guarantee that I won't model it inside a slicer and have the tessellation show up on the end part either. My parts will actually be round and printed at the proper temperature for the material so that it bonds well to itself.

I have images of measurements I made of the front and rear OEM bushings with my non-digital calipers and am happy to share them here, but TBH, if one is going to all the trouble to make these wouldn't it be best to order actual OEM examples so you have exact originals, especially since they have complex designs (rear are $137 and front are $49.85, at least from my BMW Parts Dept - https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...postcount=423)? If you want though, I'll collate those images in Publisher and share here - more than happy to help out, but I'd hate for my measurements to be the sole reference for developing your future construct.

I wasn't "trying" to squash anything, simply outlaying that what you currently see isn't as easy as it looks & wasn't produced by some fly by night novice. So not exact sure what you're trying to say, tying to prove or trying to accomplish by stating as such & calling me out on trying to disrupt progress. You sure said I was trying to do a lot of things when I was just replying to the community as a whole. But I digress.

If you truly knew how many revisions it has already gone through, you might be approaching this subject from a slightly different angle. By all means, since you apparently have the knowledge & capability that most of us don't in your mind & are showcasing us, lets see what you can build & tout next in the expanding world of versatile bushings. I wasn't trying to brag or downplay anyone's new offerings like you said. False accusations are something I don't lightly. So you may want to go back & reread your response. Since you're the new 3D printing expert, lets see what you first version looks like. Looking forward to seeing how easy it is & how well it fits.

It’s been a couple weeks… have you driven the car enough to form a first impression of NVH? Happy new year

This is a little confusing to me for this reason. Apparently you have knowledge in this area which is fantastic, kudos. That part is not confusing. What is confusing is if you have the expertise to do this, why not handle the project by starting with your own measurements? If you can improve upon an already successful design that seems to be working for myself/many go for it, it's great for the community. This forum has kept it professional for the most part for the many years I've been part of it, disagreements are fine, let's just do it in a way that's productive. My 2cents worth.

Zero NVH.

I had a very trusted shop do mine, so I haven't had any issues... some people said as soon as they dropped the diff they had clunking and had to do the loctite fix... I've had zero clunks. If they hadn't told me they did it I would have no idea.

I also did the KW V3s and the Dinan Monoballs at the same time, so I wouldn't know if there was any difference in the driveline feel from just that kit, but the car is incredibly tight now.

I drove my X3MC a bit last week. Playing with alignment settings. Learning how the drive modes and DriveLogic levels play together. (Frankly there are times when I want the car to accelerate and it doesn't have the responsiveness I expect - but it's probably user error. I will leave that for a different thread.)

My impression of the Rennfix doughnut + Belmetric hardware remains positive. In other words: no added NVH. Much like M4Lou described in post #467:
  • "Happy w/ install and waiting to see some removed bolts after 6++ months of heavy use to see any wear patterns."

TacosRule! and Bee Pee, have you had a chance to install the Jnat combo yet? Eager to hear your observations.

Glad this solution seems so far to be holding up. I'm also curious after some spring and summer racing how it holds up. Mine is pretty much away for the winter unless we get some good weather so i won't have any feedback on it for some time... enjoy!

I did it myself so i'm not sure, good question though... I would say it took me 1.5 hrs, def. under 2.0 so that's a range for you. Note that there won't be a book time on this because it's not a "factory" type repair. The bolt will have a time but the bushing which is a little more labor won't.

lol funny story, I dropped the car off to have the coilovers and dinan monoballs installed, and I left the FJ Motorwerks kit in the car when I dropped it off.

Well, they just went ahead and installed it lol. I left them no instructions, and I think they charged me an hour of labor?

This is Silicon Valley Beamers who does all my cars, and they're professionals. Dennis said the install was a bitch, so don't be surprised if they charge you more lol.

Wow I got hosed. My mechanic charged $864 labor to install OEM rear bushing and Rennfix doughnut + Belmetric hardware.

If they changed the rear factory bushing (meaning the whole bushing) also i don't think you did, i wasn't aware you changed the bushing which has to be pressed out and is a PITA. If that's the case i don't think you got hosed.
