Brake Dust - Any remedies?

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to best handle, or this just an "is what it is," situation?

Feels like even after just a few miles after a detail, and the rims need to be wiped down again. Makes me insane!!!

Thanks.

Get your wheels ceramic coated as well. The brake dust will still accumulate the same way. But you can take a hose and rinse it off when you get home. Meanwhile the rest of the car stays clean in between washes.

Ceramic coating helps but brake dust is a different animal and unfortunately cannot just be sprayed off. M pad dust seems to be particularly sticky. However, a quick spray of brake cleaner usually removes most of it.

Can't go wrong with Adams. My current favorite wheel cleaner is P&S Brake Buster.

Thanks guy. Presume this just makes cleaning easier, doesn't prevent heavy build up? Need to update the pads to change that?

Do any of you have a go to brush that works well on the 826M wheels? I haven't even hit a 1000 miles there the buildup is really noticeable. I just ordered a gallon of Adams wheel cleaner to help too.

Would brake buster remove ceramic coating? I just did my rims a couple weeks ago and want to find a better clear for everyday washes

Holy resurrection of a dead thread 😁 My personal experience is ceramic pads do cut down on dust. The problem for me was the brakes did not have the bite that regular brakes had. I’d prefer cleaning vs reducing my stopping power. If you have the 892 wheels, they are harder to clean than the 765’s.

The 892 rims look SO GOOD, but you have to clean them and they have so many areas to clean Vs. the 795 rims.
This may sound absolutely ridiculous but when I spray my tires with tire shine, I have had great luck with wiping off the tire shine on the rims and it takes the brake dust with it.

I second this. Sonax has worked great for me. Picked up 2 more bottles yesterday as a matter of fact. I tried a few other cleaners in the past but the sonax seemed to be the most aggressive but won't ruin the wheel finish. Spray on dry wheels and let it sit for a few. Easy brush off then with a wet wheel brush.
