Thanks.

Not all of them. The M40i one is called ZF 8HP50 Sport.

Steptronic is just another name/term used for a transmission with a torque converter, that's across the models, its the 8HP50 or 8HP70 or 8HP75 that I am trying to figure out for the X3M

It uses the same gearbox version as the M5 which I believe is the ZF8HP75 gen2.

A quick Google on real OEM give the part number as GA8HP75Z output all-wheel drive, it's shared with quite a few higher output BMWs 750/F chassis X5M etc....

Every car equipped with ZF has this.

That’s good to know. Therefore, the drivetrain won’t be the limiting factor in performance tuning.

I have to caveat my post as it could be read the wrong way.

It's my understanding that the X3M uses the same gearbox as the F90 M5, I checked realoem to see what that gearbox is (confirmation of ZF8HP75) but realoem doesn't have X3M listed so I'm still going on what I've read which leads me to believe they use the same gearbox, my 740d xdrive also uses this gearbox basically there isn't another ZF8 that can handle the torque as the next step down is the 50 version the next step up the 90.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for this. So it seems like the X3/4M use the xx75/76 version of the gearbox. You also state the 740D use same. I have the X4M40D - must assume it use same? I have not been able to find and documentation. I ask as I plan to installing a RaceChip which bring torque from 680nm to 780, and want to check if risk of and problems. Can you confirm? Thanks

I wonder if anyone is working on a tune for it to handle the higher torque. Not that it needs faster shifting, but i am always for making things better .

I had xHP tune on my auto 6 speed 335i and it was night and day difference.

I'm Also curious as to what the Toqrque capacity is, and how reliable the ZF is with all the increased power from Bootmod3.

I think it's very reliable in that respect. Much more reliable than any dual clutch.

Hey Alex I you are correct, as this is the route I plan on going after I take delivery here in a couple weeks. I had a 16 f82 with full e85 and the M4 gts dct flash and it ran like a champ. Love your wrap btw, care to pm me the cost of that?

I saw it has the ZFM8HP76, and I saw a 650nm rating on the tech spec document which cant be right because that would mean 479lb ft of torque.
