As I’ve posted many times, I’m new to these vehicles. I know this has talked about so much and I feel like I’m gonna get so many answers. I’m used to diesels where fuel additive is highly recommended.i used to use Hotshots religiously. Does anyone add fuel and/or oil additive to their bmw’s?

I already have an oil test kit on the way, just wondering if this is a waste or what. I hate asking questions where everyone has a different answer just wondering if people think this is a dumb idea lol. Was thinking of the Amsoil fuel additive.

I'll add a fuel additive (Techron) to my vehicles every 10k. A good source for questions on this forum about the X3 is the "search" bar....here is link when you search additives.

Not very needed on these engines honestly. Maybe injector cleaner every 20-30k miles if that. And even then I would do that unless you are tuned and running high amounts of ethanol.

For oil just change every 5k with 5w30 from liquid moly is my suggestion and 5w-40 If you live in Florida

For oil, go see what's prescribed for your engine (I'd say 30i), like BMW LL-12 FE or so. LL means longlife and I don't think any SAE 5W-40 can be used as longlife oil.
For additives - sometimes get premium gasoline, sometimes use any additive. Some proven brands: Liqui Moly, STP, Wynn's, Miller's Oils, BMW has it's Twin Power Turbo additive,... some are designed to clean when used regularly, some are one time boosters, some eliminate negative effects of "bio" ethanol, absorb water etc.
