2023 bmx x4 comp oil indicator not changing

Hello - I had my break service done at 1200 mile mark. Now I have apporx 3600 miles on the car and the Idrive maintenance indicator has not changed since the break in service. It read 10k miles or 12/2023 at 1200 miles and today we are at 3600 miles and it still reads the same thing. Is this normal? I have had many BMWs in the past and the miles will change as I add miles, but this is a first for me. Any ideas? Thanks

It is my understanding per the advisor I just spoke with last week that an oil change is needed at 10k or 1 year from when the vehicle was put into service. Regardless of the break in service and when it was completed.

I just bought a 22 x3mc used with 6k miles on it in late December. Oil indicator had me requiring service in February. I have documents showing break in service completed April 4 22. My car was put into service February 22. I went ahead and did the oil change while I was in for inspections to get it registered.

If you're saying the "count down" for the oil change interval isn't reducing, then it might be worth asking the dealer about. I know mine, once reset to 10k miles after an oil service, will count down from there as I drive. It's not "linear" though as I believe the countdown takes other things into account beyond just distance driven...things like cold starts, oil temp and probably others. So yes, mileage for the oil service should change, but the date will be at 1 year from the last service until reset.

On my last oil change the dealer forgot to reset the "counter".

Let me tell you, it got unbearable that every single time I got in the car it reminded me I was past due with a chime.

I took it back and they were able to reset and back date it to the date it was actually changed.

They took me no appointment and it was only 1/2 hour.
