Drive the M40i. If you think it checks all of the boxes for you then get that one. If you currently have an M or feel the M40i isn't quite enough performance, get the M. If you want maximum handling get the M competition. I've found that most M owners, myself included, aren't happy in anything other than another M. Every time I have gone down to a non-M, I end up regretting it…..

Love the X3MC, especially in that color.

For my dollars, I'd go M40i. Plenty fast unless drag racing Mustangs and hellcats are your thing.
Lol I don't think I'd want to drag race cars in a suv tbh. I'll buy a weekender for that at some point. 911 or r8 or something. In the near future but rn need a good all around we for these NY streets lol

If you're gonna order a M you're gonna need more than 6 months. Decide fast lol I was having oil change at my dealer Thursday and they told me it's a year wait now.

Wdh that's insane but makes sense. Granted I think I could wait a year or atleast by March would be cool. I've been hearing the ride is trash and NY:NJ roads don't exactly scream smooth so I'll have to give both a go on a test drive quite soon. I wish bmw let you borrow cars for a few days to see what it's all about.

Thanks for the tip

This. Currently own a '22 M40i, and I've placed an order for an X3MC for this reason after only putting 3400 miles on my M40i in 8 months(not my daily). The M40i is my first SUV after a long line of sports cars, including American V8's and BMW M3's. I like the X3 platform so much, and an SUV in general, that I have a deposit down on an X3MC. Just awaiting an allocation.

Sweet blue! I'm still waiting to wrap mine in Trenton Blue which would pretty much replicate Frozen Portimao Blue

Question then, have you test drove the x3m verses the m40 and does the dynamics and power warrant the need?

Also what is your daily?

It does for me, but that's just me. The M40i has plenty of power for everyday use that's for sure. I haven't driven an LCI X3M, but placed my order after test driving a 2020 X3MC with 26'000 miles that my local dealer had in stock about a month ago. I went for an extended test drive with a salesman who knew very little about the X3MC. I floored it getting on the interstate, and that's all it took for me. My daily is a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 4 door that is owned by my company. I'm lucky enough to get to drive it home and use as I want, so my M40i stays in my garage all week long.

Doesn't suit the SUV.
M3 - different story.

I’ve had both the 22 X3 M40i and the 22 X3 MC. There is no comparison imho. The only downside to the MC is it lacks the torque below 2000 rpm. In every other way the MC is better for me. Some complain about the stiffer ride but that’s one of the things I prefer to the M40i. For the vast majority of people the M40i is probably all they need but it was not enough for me.

Wow I really love how aggressive the hood decals make the X3M look!

I'm not sure I would add yet another ///M'blem, but I think they look great and would look great without the ///M as well for the aggressive contrast.

Nice job - took the sleeper right out of the X3M and made it look like the beast it is!

Although I may be biased (as a person that loves "blue"), I think this is a great individual color and I believe it really suits the X3 M Comp.! Not having seen any photos of an X3 in it, I was a little concerned the hue would be a bit too much or 'off' on an SUV - I was wrong. With the black/shadowline options of the competition package to offset the bright blue, this M looks fantastic. To me, colors like these help to distinguish an ///M vehicle as special.

Thanks for taking the time to snap pictures and post!

There are a bunch of other colors… some regular pricing and a lot of individual ones. This doesn't work.

I think this color looks better suited here versus the G80 M3. The F80 might be a different story but this is the best looking color I've seen on the X3M

Not a fan of the Smurf blue. The G80 barely pulls it off and the G82 just looks super weird in the same color. So many other interesting blue choices that this one is just too pastelle in nature for my liking. Decals don't do anything for me either, other than remind me of non-m e46 racer boys with powered by "Sportsmind" and "M" stickers all over their car.

I know that's just my opinion, so no disrespect to those that like the color or decals. I get similar comments about Donington grey (aka Boomer Beige), although I knew I would...lol
