Max, these springs are good if you want to lower the car without turning it into a wooden kart. They still keep the ride pretty comfortable.

So far I found the car handles better at high speed turn than stock. At 80mph high bank freeway connector, I can feel the car tilted against it much more at stock height and suspension. With lowering, it stays flatter. But further driving and testing need to be done. Will hit the track in May when local track open up. Other track are available, but they are over 1 hour away. And most not allowing SUV/SAV on the track.
You're doing a great job explaining your mods as you go - learning a lot along the way.

I still haven't seen any vertical CG data for the F97/98 so we can't calculate the SSF, but would be interested in comparing OEM vs. lowered SSFs as you'd think lowering should improve that. If so, one would expect improved stability and handling - to what extent hard to know unless formal testing could show (skid pad, slalom, etc).

Although I doubt we'll ever see wind tunnel testing OEM vs lowered (and with and without aerodynamic additions such as AC Schnitzer's front splitter and rear roof wing), these could possibly improve the Cd (again, without data unknown if they would have a significant effect on high-speed performance).

Many may mod solely for aesthetic/sound but would be interesting to see if some of these actually do provide a noticeable improvement in performance and handling.

I haven’t installed them yet. Waiting for all mod parts to arrive. Should have all the work done by the end of April. I live more north, Treasure Coast area. Maybe we should all meet at the PBIR and have some fun.

Good call.

Maybe he can chime in since he has it on his F90 M5 I believe.

Does a drop in ride height impact the comfort? I'm happy with the current ride height so it would be purely for increased comfort.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy with ride in general but a little more pliancy for the kids in their seats would be a bonus.

Overall the ride is more comfortable than stock Comp suspension.

thanks man, for me it would only be for comfort, kinda had the idea of doing from day 1 if this came to market.

would you agree with the spiel on their website?

*******************

Why do you need MSS suspension?

You would assume for a compact, easy-to-park SUV, the X3 would be the perfect vehicle for your daily office commute or school run, but the reality is the suspension is disappointing. Quite often when asked to translate its performance capabilities into a controlled, slower request, the X3 can feel unstable.
If you are driving on roads that are not silky smooth, you’ll more than likely feel every pothole on the road and be welcomed with a lovely thud as the occupants of the car are pushed up and down in their seats. It’s heartbreaking for the SUV driver who is wanting their car to fulfill its lush external promise, which is where MSS can help.
What to expect after installation…

After rigorous testing and fine-tuning, MSS for this range smooths the ride to a graceful glide. Potholes and bumps that once created such discord and jolting are now easy and light. The already fantastic steering on these vehicles is enhanced to respond to city traffic and passengers will appreciate the reduction in roll once MSS has been installed.
If you’re wanting the lowered aesthetics, you will not have to compromise as URBAN brings fantastic lowering capabilities and still delivers hugely improved comfort.
MSS Urban

MSS Urban will provide your SUV with a significant ride-quality upgrade over OEM and traditional aftermarket suspension solutions.
Our dual-stacked, triple rated springs enhance the versatility of the SUV, overcoming the demands of day-to-day driving. The stability of your vehicle will increase and you will feel a reduction in the discomfort that is often felt when driving on rough roads.

Yes, I do agree with the statement.

I forgot to mentioned, the thud, is lessen now.

IMO, X3M and X3M Comp. doesn't have that much deadening in the trunk liner to reduce weight. It is M car after all.
I believe, if you don't have spare, the thud is more noticeable. Like in my case.
But, I am used with street/track coilover that is running solid monoball mounts.
So, thuds doesn't bother me at all.

Thanks - someone on here put some silent coat under the trunk carpet not sure of the outcome.

Sorry my previous post wasn't clear, if I got these springs installed, if I elected to keep stock ride height would that be more comfortable than if it was installed and lowered?

appreciate the help

It will be more comfortable at stock height since you'll have more shock travel.

Had the development set on our F90 M5 for 6 months or so before release. Was upset to take it off while MSS finalised everything. Was glad to get it back on! Lower than stock and more comfortable. Its WIN WIN.

It would be interesting to provide Joe Achilles an X3M fitted with MSS springs for testing. I know Imran got him these springs for his M2C.

Look forward to it. I had MSS on my RS3 saloon and found the car way too bouncy. Looking for more comfort but no bouncy. Maybe just me having them set up too low?
