Paint peeling issues resolved?

I have a '23 X3MC scheduled for production early February and was surprised that, after all the research I completed before ordering, I somehow managed to miss the QC issues with peeling paint that seemed to plague many of the 2020-2021 models. Most of these threads seem to be from 2+ years ago, which leaves me hoping that things have been resolved for the LCI. Anyone experience this issue recently, particularly with 2022-2023 models?

I did notice that Donington Grey and Toronto Red seemed to be the most affected colors in those old threads.

I wasn't aware Toronto Red was affected. Can you send links to those threads?

Honestly, I think just about every color was affected to one extent or another, but DG and TR seemed to be what I came across most often. There's a few mentions of TR in this thread and a few more over in the FB group.

I test drove a 21 that was black (or bsm) that had some paint issues I noticed around the hood emblem.

I don’t see any issues with the car I ultimately bought which is a 22 Brooklyn grey.

Sorry to hear you had to deal with this issue, sounds like a PITA. What year was your car, if you don't mind me asking?

mine was a 2020 donington grey. my service advisor agreed that it looked unusual, his mgr accused me of painting the bumper. apparently he thought the bumper on the x3m was black and not body colored. he asked who painted teh bumper... i told him BMW Spartanburg... do you need their number?

he reluctantly approved the request to escalate to BMW corporate for approval to repaint.

hoping you have nothing but good experiences with yours

This cracked me up. Reminds me back when I took my 04 Mustang GT with probably 10k on it because of the head gasket leaking. They tried telling me they never used orange head gaskets. I laughed and said you better call Ford on that one…I had to explain to the SA that Ford switched the gaskets they were using in 2004 to Felpro and they were orange. I think that’s what it was but I distinctly remember that I had to argue with them to get the warranty work done.

These places will pull anything over on someone that doesn’t know any better.

i was amazed at how adamant he was abt the black bumper. I was like "if you are talking abt the diffuser then you are absolutley right"
my service guy leaned in noticing i was visibly annoyed and whispered "think hes getting it confused with the m40i, i will talk to him"

he was still overall reluctant but i guess he had to convey it as if he was "doing me a favor" fortunatley they sent it to a pretty good body shop here on Long Island that did a great job repainting it. kept the car for almost 3 years with no further issues. I did notice a tiny bit under the rear spoiler.. but it didn't bother me providing it didn't get worse..

I know this is a slightly older thread, but just found that my paint is peeling on my 2022 Brooklyn Gray X3MC on the driver's side rear bumper. Called BMW and they told me to come in when the service manager is there to submit something to BMW NA. Will update if anything comes of it.

Garage kept, 25k miles.

No issues with my 2022 X3M that I bought last August (BSM) and the whole car is clear bra. So I may not be the right person to ask.

But from an up and close inspection the paint looked fine for me since I had the car paint corrected before putting on the clear bra and no issues.

My phytonic blue paint peeled on drivers door edge, dealer didn’t even try to rob me off.

Took it in and had it sorted

So I noticed this peeling on the front bumper right in the center of the lip on my 2020 Donnington and also the rear bumper has peeling underneath on the edges as well.

I had PPF installed on the front bumper and now it's clearly peeling around the outside of the PPF. My car is currently at Schomp in Highlands Ranch, CO and they told me that this is not covered by my warranty because I have PPF installed.

Anyone have any experience with this type of situation before?

My X3MC has 33k miles, I hand wash and detail it myself everytime and keep it garaged 80% of the time.

I just saw some peeling happening on my '22 Brooklyn Grey (Grau!) where the bottom of the trunk spoiler meets the glass. Plan to bring this up on my next service visit or just before my warranty is up.
