Car stuck at dealer for repair
Sigh. I dropped off my 2020 X3MC with 16k miles at the dealer because the HVAC fan speed was way down, like no more than 20% of full blast. They take it apart and the blower or whatever completely falls apart, kablooey. Part gets ordered, initially 1 day delivery, then 2 days, then 1 month backorder. F.
I'm given a loaner X3 30i and it has a hitch for my bike rack and CarPlay so I'm reasonably satisfied but damn, 1 month? They literally can't put it back together because the bad part fell apart. I'll be reaching out to BMWFS to get some sort of credit on lease payment. I'm not needing to raise a stink over it but it sucks. Anyone else had their baby stuck waiting on parts like this? ![]() |

This is the cold hard reality of the parts supply chain right now, compounded on luxury brands that source parts overseas in their home countries. I guess to avoid an unfortunate situation like this, you kind of have to check with your service advisor about parts availability before committing to bringing it in.
In your case, I'd be asking for a payment credit at a minimum. |

My X3MC has been in 3x for almost 2 months, bordering on lemon law territory.
Did your SA try to release the car back to you while waiting on parts? Mine did, on a major engine part, no less. Classy. And they still want a 10/10 review. Opened a case w/ BMWFS, they told me to call when I get the car back and they will request a credit. Asked if they could freeze my payments while car is in the shop, but they can only do retroactive credits. I don't trust the dealer to watch out for my best interests, I don't trust my family in a BMW, and I definitely don't trust BMW to give me my money back after the fact. |

My loaner smells like an ashtray.
X1 s drive 2.8. It can torque steer at 70 mph with dsc on.

Ouch. I sincerely hope the dumb tech didn't do that unnecessary damage.

It's happened to several techs so far. And honestly it's a design flaw more than incorrect installation. Like I said, I did it on my own personal car and I can't tell you how many times I've replaced microfilters on car, maybe thousands. Microfilters are not difficult to replace at all. |

Is micro filter the internal Cabin air filter? Just want to know for future reference. Because I changed my cabin air filter once already. No issue with my AC of course.

Surprise! the part showed up unannounced, they fixed it, and I just picked up my car. The paperwork says "found broken recirc vent flap" which was replaced. She blows strong once again and it's good to be back in the M. The 30i wasn't bad but this is sooooo much better.

It's important to tell your SA up front that you will NOT have your car tied up and torn apart waiting on parts availability unless the car can't be driven because of the nature of the repair. |
