I have an ‘18 X3M40i and was bummed that I couldn’t get fullscreen. I had to buy a $20 enet cable and then contacted this guy and he sent me a download. Took 5 mins.

Has anyone tried Bimmercode yet on an X3MC for Carplay fullscreen?

I just did it on my outgoing 2019 440i GC with iDrive 6 and it worked straight away.

As the X3MC I'm picking up is a 2020 model with iDrive 6, I suspect the same Bimmercode mod would work, but I'd prefer hearing if someone has done it.

As per the ISTEP PSA thread, the consensus is you can do full screen with Bimmercode if you have the latest March ISTEP update.

I've got the ISTEP update on my 2020 ID6 X3MC and was able to code the fullscreen CarPlay with BimmerCode. So glade I didn't need to pay somebody, again, to get the fullscreen option back

I asked them to do the ISTEP updates prior to delivery but I don’t think they did. See my maps version, wouldn’t this be the 2021 version if they updated all my software (I know Maps <> ISTEP).

I tried coding it via BimmerCode and I get a white box on the right side when CarPlay is running so I had to turn it off. I’m annoyed! It seems the online vendors require you to do installs via OBD + ENET + Laptop but I have an M1 Mac that doesn’t run Windows.

But I don't know about the maps. But search your digital manual in the car for "imprint" and that should be 2021, if they updated ISTEP/ISTA.

Update: I went in for my 2000km mandatory oil change (and to remove whatever break-in limiter they set). I told them my carplay was glitchy and freezing (it actually was). Half a day later, I had 2 software updates (one for the iDrive, the other for the entire vehicle). After this, I was able to get widescreen carplay via BimmerCode so...yay!

The vehicle handling is also much improved by the "other" update they applied!

I paid $50 the best 50 spent. Super easy, works 100%. Probably with research and investing 100 hrs into way to code it. I came to conclusion that $50 and less than 5 min and its done.

This may just be a coincidence but I seem to have lost all the connected drive functionality via My BMW app (lock/unlock, remote 3D view, send locations to car) after the fullscreen carplay installed through enet cable.

If I go to connected drive online everything shows up as being booked but if I try to use them just comes back with no connection or failed status.

The only thing that works is when the car communicates status (i.e. fuel status).

Has anyone had anything similar or knows how to resolve?

Unfortunately it will likely take an ISTEP update to restore that functionality. The good news is that afterward you will be able to activate full screen Carplay via BimmerCode.

This is one of the risks in forcing a feature through an exploit in the system - any simple update from BMW can either break the feature or cause problems elsewhere.

Where exactly in the BimmerCode app is the section to update CarPlay to full screen? When I look in the Headunit menu I don’t see any options to modify CarPlay/full screen. Thanks.

I bought at bimmer remote and will install the "full screen" feature tonight. I could only purchase a enet cable labelled for F30. Will this work with a F26 or will that screw up my car?
