Gotcha! Thank you for the lesson! I love learning new stuff here. I pulled the trigger and got the 295s installed. Like em! Still wondering if I should leave it as is or install the 15mm spacers I had bought before deciding to take the plunge. Any thoughts on that?
if you want an aggressive stance then put the spacers on

If you wait a few weeks, I can let you know. 12mm may be the way to go. I'm now lowered and my 15mm rears on 265/40 are a hair away from rubbing

Will do! I'll stand by! How were they before you lowered?

Perfectly fine on 15mm rear and not lowered. 15mm is a bit too aggressive upfront for my taste.

I do have one thought here, of course after I just bought the 295s...any chance the dealer would claim non oe-sized tires void xfer case or diff warranty claims?

anyone been able to source 295/35/21 and 265/40/21's in conti sportcontact 7's? The conti's have all received glowing reviews even against the Michelin PS4's

i'll be the one to ask the obvious dumb question here... isn't the point of the 265 rears to keep the real M car more tossable / rotatable? The m40i has a thicker rear (275) with 20inch plus wheels to prevent that as it caters to a different crowd?

You guys having awd launch issues or something?

I see your point and I know close to nothing about the physics of tire sizing but I do know the new Z07s come with 345 rears so I would imagine it actually helps.

Are you referring to the mid engine rear wheel drive 670 horsepower track car that has completely different weight distribution?

Like I said I don't know physics and tires but appreciate the sarcasm anyway.

No harm intended... I've just read the entirety if this thread and there is so much mis information on tires it bothers me... the sole tire engineer here got shooed away.

The above looks comment is the one that so far has made the most sense.

So what is the correct info then? I'm confused to where the actual "issue" is with this upgrade.

I think it's perhaps me that's confused as to what the value in this upgrade is...? Someone said looks and so far that's the only thing that I've read that makes sense... and if that's the case, so be it.

Otherwise, are people spinning tires on launch in a AWD tank SUV that weighs 4610 w only 510 hp? Or is the car too twitchy? I find both a tad bit hard to believe.

Four are documented running this size combo with the 892M in the Members' Wheel/Tire list in the Stickies ( https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1949903 ): cehrl7 with the PS4 All Season and jv004, mr.almeida and Kabes with the PS4S.

I run that size but in Mercedes spec. Discount did not have the full BMW specs at the time. Here's a rear pic no spacers on 892s.

Yes. They fit perfectly. I run the same tires and yes, it was expensive!

I'm running the M01 (Mercedes spec) as well. If you're running the BMW spec, you're essentially using the front X5 M tires on the rear of your X3 M. And that technically is not a great idea. FWIW.

The x-drive system is more rwd based than the m40i and stock for stock a 100+hp difference vs the b58 is not insignificant. The power/tq band on the s58 is also much higher in the RPM range than the B58, so launches are not really a problem, but getting squirrely in a 60-120 roll is not confidence inspiring (especially in the wet) and more rubber certainly comes in handy when "tossing" a 4,600lb vehicle into a corner at 60+ mph.

So yeah, looks may be a benefit, but I'll take improved grip all day long...especially once these things are tuned. The 265/295 setup still gives you that fun experience, but with more lateral grip and stability at speed.

my man... you're not getting squirrely in this 510 HP Suv at 60 MPH lol...

I drove an X3M COMP around PBIR and that was the last thought on my mind... an M2 Comp which is the twitchiest car BMW makes that has a lower TQ band and the same 265 rear tires doesn't get twitchy at 60 MPH lol... less TQ down low and a shorter body would make it squirrlier, a stronger top end at a higher speed won't... (not at this power / weight distribution). I could see the car being bouncy but that's just the crappy BMW adaptive suspension doing its work not the tires... but there is no way it's squirrely.
