Stage 2 OTS Tune on OEM Downpipes

So I have been debating about going for a custom 93 tune, like many others have, but quite frankly, I am just too swamped at the moment.

Given the number of folks running a custom and aggressive Stage 1, on stock equipment, can anyone see why we wouldn't be able to run a Stage 2 OTS tune, even if still running stock downpipes?

I get that catless will offer a 30-40hp benefit, but even "higfhlow" catted downpipes are acceptable. Given some of the stage 1 power levels we have seen, I am thinking the stock downpipes will flow plenty to support a conservative stage 2 OTS tune.

Am I missing something?

In theory, the turbos will have to work harder, which will cause wastegate duty cycle to increase, and intake temps will increase as well. You can always log both of these parameters before and after and see if that checks out.

It will work you just won't make as much power and those stock cats will have more back pressure and more heat.

Makes sense. Good news is that I went with a custom tune. I may still test and log a stage 2 for science

I get the restriction part, I just happen to think it's not as big if a restriction on the f97. I have yet to see this platform break into the 9 sec territory and we have a car running 10.2-10.3 with stock pipes. I can't speak for egt's as it's not my car running those times
