OK, but why?
Is that really a use case for either of these that are designed to be high-speed Autobahn cruisers?
Just looks like a great way to trash a couple of beautiful SUVs, IMHO.

Many of us are worried about rock chips on the rockers from the soft rubber on city roads, and so we install flaps, guards and PPF.
Makes me kinda want to puke to see them trash these in that dirt and rocks.
Oh well... to each their own i guess.

Thanks for the clip!

I won't be taking mine off-road but it is good to know it can do the basics, even on summer tires...

Most X3 M's will probably do more miles on dirt roads than on tracks. Dirt roads is not the same as off-roading though.

The PS4S tires are definitely not good on dirt roads. Lots of small rocks get embedded in the soft rubber.

Some of y'all don't realize that lots of people buy nice things and trash them. Look at g wagons.

Having owned a Macan and been a part of that community, modifying them for off-road was fairly common…I'd be surprised and a bit disappointed if the x3 community never branched that direction.

I took my X3 30e on over 35% inclines and I was truly amazed by it. That was with Michelin CrossClimate2.

I never taught the BMW system was that capable.

Love this channel for all its content. But this felt a little biased, if they are timing things and making that old man be the judge of the all wheel capabilities of these two vehicles maybe just maybe use the same driver ? Hands down would choose the X3M day in day out. Also if a test is done maybe do it on the same set of tires too.

They did another test with X3M40I vs Xc90 Polestar and Audi q5e, that test was absolutely a cringe fest(link below). Clearly the X3 is eating away the competition but I guess I am just a BMW fanboy.

I wonder how much manufacturers influence this channel ?

OK, it was a bit silly, but those were some legitimate tests for cars that make some claims about off-road chops.

And it was all worth it for a launch control up a dirt hill... though hopefully anyone with real off-road ambitions knows not to try this at home.

Just a matter of taste for choosing one or the other..
Although I see more advantages for taking the X3 M 😁🤘

I'd rather see this type of test than another drag race.

There is a previous carwow video where they take the X3, Q5, XC60, etc, to an off road test track and show what they can do. They're all pretty good at it - and way better than you'd think for such 'lifestyle' vehicles!

They even open the door when the car is on an incline with a wheel in the air-type scenario to show stiff the body is, etc…
