Might be interesting to see if there is a pattern here, so is your issue both sides of the wheel or only one side? The UK fitting shouldn't have any influence on this. And maybe danniexi and V8MAN (who performed DIY) can comment on their carbon wheel upgrades as well.
I think you might be right about the right/left side. I’m left handed, so when I tried it, it needed some pressure to sound. Had a try on the right side, and it didn’t seem so bad. Will do some more testing.

Thanks for sharing. Still amazed at what they've been able to accomplish with the F97. Whether hauling supplies or long-distance cruising or making runs at the Strip, it has certainly brought back the fun of driving for us.

Another enjoyable day at the Strip with the LCI, as I asked my wife to allow one more trial with hers to evaluate its capabilities vs what I've experienced with my 2020 version.

I still find myself feeling guilty being able to run times which used to be 'super-car' results back in the day, with an off-the-shelf bone stock utility construct. Had some good discussions about that today with folks who have worked on their models for years, never to reach these times...

Full documentation will be shared in the Qtr mile thread [ https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1444613 ] when I get a chance to prep the data, but best run was 11.700s at 117.68mph, DA+665, only 93 Octane as our local shop was out of 100 Octane and E85, and tires at 36F/37R psi.

What's your final assessment of pre-LCI vs LCI in terms of power and performance?

Same day race head-head with everything being equal (lane prep, weight, octane, DA, tire pressure, same build and tires...) - suspect the LCI could possibly edge slightly in front but it wouldn't be by much if it did. Best out of five - flip a coin.

Thanks. At this point, it looks like the difference in actual tolerances and output variations have a bigger impact than anything on paper. I am a bit surprised the lighter wheels didn't translate to better numbers and what I am seeing, everything looks like a coin flip between pre and post LCI.

I initially thought that'd be the case too, but so many factors affect ET/trap its tough to isolate just one aspect like wheel weight when significant aero changes were made to the front (and lesser extent rear) of the LCI. Would agree if just switching out the 765M for the 892M like some are doing in the pre-LCI, one would hope to see performance gains (assuming the aero drag of the 892 design isn't worse than the 765).

Here's a comparison of my 2020's quickest vs the LCI's. Will be tough in real world to get all variables equal (the DA was better for LCI but Octane was worse), but at least gives an idea.

Two views from last weekend of the F97's aggressive launch showing how high the front rises and skipping of the wheels (front wheels in the first image, rear in the second).

So the assumption is that the suspension has been updated? Hard to follow with so many follow ups.

Also - any idea if the sport seat dimensions have been updated in any way? You’ll find me on the forums trolling for a$$ pain solutions because of the side bolsters on the seat base.

Either way - awesome post and amazing car.

The suspension question is difficult to answer because none of us, to my knowledge, have any concrete evidence of actual software or hardware revisions. Others can comment and share links if I'm wrong. What many of us who have driven (and owned) both seem to sense, though, is a more 'refined' ride when compared directly with our pre-LCI versions (even those that had the ISTA-P update which supposedly addressed those concerns). This doesn't provide you with a yes/no answer, but my assumption is that it was tweaked, but I don't have proof.

Regarding the sport seat dimensions - I think they're the same, as my wife and I haven't noticed any difference. There was a post in a thread somewhere IIRC that mentioned BMW may have changed Mnfrs who supply something to do with the seats, but I can't find it in searches and don't think it had anything to do with dimensions.

Regarding your seat base/bolster comfort - if you really like the F97/98 and hate to get rid of it just because of that, it might be worth consulting an Automotive Upholstery shop to see if they can assist rather than trying to buy an off-the-shelf product. I visited one for help in sewing some leather pillows I made for relatives with low back issues and was impressed with their knowledge and abilities. Suspect they have access to all grades and thickness of padding with which they could make a custom premium leather seat base cushion for you.

Very informative thread. I read the entire 11 pages. I like the BG color and wheel combo and seen a similar one in our building's garage in person. There is another X3MC in black and so hard to notice it. I drove passed it everyday and didn't notice it until I walked by it one day in the garage.
I test drove an MBB color few days ago and torn between the BG and MBB. I know, first world country problems but defintely ordering with M892 wheels if I were to get one. I've seen the dark grey and yellow so far on the road past week and I think they are going to sell a lot of them.

Looking forward to seeing your images, and thanks. This model really hits the mark for a number of us. Nimble, lighter weight by SUV/SAV standards (see X5, X7...), easily maneuvers crowded parking lots, carries anything and everything we need, and still provides the performance and handling to make it a special drive. Not a coupe, not a low sedan, but for those that need more space it fits the bill.

Still wish we could option out of the non-aerodynamic rails which we've never used (and never will) and also have the ability to order with a CFRP aero roof. I'll be holding on to my 2020 for the time being in hopes at least the rail-delete option will be available in 2023, but we appreciate the 892M wheels and they don't take that much longer to clean than mine. Image from 4 weeks ago along the northern Gulf Coast.

Great to see you doing well Max Well especially since you were and still a true Colonel to the X3/X4 family. Ha I remember the 2016 X4 M40i (N55-ewg) good ol'e days and we were hoping for the true X3M X4M to show up and they finally did 5yrs later.

Thanks, FSociety. I appreciated the enthusiasm you shared for going to the Strip and all the formal slips you posted back then, and our many discussions here about the possible M line. No doubt that helped fuel my interest in acceleration and performance!

Time flies, thanks for all the suggestions and help as the years went by.
I will be posting some interesting facts soon, we just made 700whp on my X4M stock turbo and fueling. This is about 800-820hp at crank with still some room for error

Just noticed you removed the "Competition" badge on the rear. You've inspired me to do the same this weekend. Much cleaner look!
