The order sheet for these cars is very limited, I agree. I'm sure we'll get a few more options with the LCI, and then the refresh in a few years will probably come with a full M list of options. Hopefully

Solid, I've taken mine to the limits and it feels incredible. I must say that I prefer to keep the suspension in sport and steering in comfort. Anything more and the car becomes "too jerky."

Suspect we'll have to wait on the X3MCS for that.

Looks good. Hopefully, BMW will also offer some new color options for the LCI and a wider difference between comfort/sport/sport+ suspension settings.

When you live in a land of snow and ice, having a super capable SUV that I can load 4 people and ski gear in, makes the run up to the Canadian Rockies pretty fun. It's blows most stuff off the road, especially when everything is set up in sport plus. I have an M2 for summer fun, but the X3 M meets my carrying and hauling needs while still putting a smile on my face racing up to 180 kph on a wide open highway. The M SUVs sell a lot for very good reason.

Hey, I'm in upstate NY... I drive in snow all day long and hit the slopes pretty often... not dogging on the X3M, but I made my choice

Also with this vehicle I feel a get most of the benefits of an M-car without having to worry ever about scraping over steep curbs, parking blocks, steep inclines, etc as the ground clearance makes it much more of a drive it and don't worry about it ownership experience.
Yeah, no more crap cars. Actually, by trying to get an all one car you end up compromising. The X3M, great M characteristics, but does it provide the same amount of driving experience than a true M3. And for winter driving, you're gonna need to switch out to winter wheels/tires and then it may be capable but I'd still be hesitant to drive my $80K X3M in really bad winter condition just because of other drivers. And on the family hauling and space front, the X3M just doesn't have as much room as the X5M and X7 M50i.

Depending on the stage of life you're in family wise and financially wise, having a specific car for specific reasons make sense. Can you do a beater in the winter and splurge in the summer on the nice M3, sure, but that's no fun.

I think the SUV sized for your needs can function perfectly for all year round driving. However, for true track days or B-road driving the SUV isn't going to cut it even if it's an X3M. I just think there's something to be said about being in a true sports car that has you sitting a foot or so from the road and slinging it around corners. You can't replicate the experience you get from wringing out an M3, M4, or better yet Porsche.

I thought about trading in my X3 M40i for an X3M, but then thought of the above and decided to use money allocated for that upgrade to start my Porsche GT4 fund for next year.

Remember it's all owner dependent so to each their own. Just get out there and drive.
The answer is out there, but it isn't an SUV, it's a touring, or wagon, or whatever you want to call it and finally an M3 Touring is going to be made.

Just for some perspective...I had an M3 for a weekend toy and a Raptor for normal driving/winter. Had a kid, got rid of both for the X3M. Why? Because even on the weekends the M3 isn't practical for modern family uses in the US, even if it's just 1 kid. The X3M allowed me to simplify everything and to enjoy an M car 365 days a year.

ive had my F80 for five years... now have two kids (one 4 year old, one infant), and still use the M3 as a daily + weekend for day trips visiting family and what not. its doable.

that being said, if the G81 aint coming to the US, i’ll definitely be getting an F97 LCI just to make life easier.

Oh it's definitely doable but I quickly learned that my wife wasn't going to have it.

This is my delimma, my lease on my 330 is done next year perfect time to pick up the lci x3 M or the new m3/m4 and have a wrangler or Ford escape for bad weather.

But then again I kinda really want to buy a 2017 r8 plus for weekend and summer drives and have a all around daily which might make x3 or macan perfect candidate. Decisions decisions

If we can expect to see the LCI in July & we don't like the looks of it / the small changes that have been made - and we were to order a 2021 at that very moment... what are the chances of use getting pre-LCI car... ? -or- would it simply be too late at that point to order & build a pre-LCI car... ?
