Just curious about the folks that came to the F97/98 from the F8x before?

I came from an F82. Been in the F98 comp for 11 months and I'm really enjoying it but part of me misses the coupe car feel. The F98 is great but something about moving that mass and the law of physics is still missing.

I switch my car every 24 to 33 months and I'm certain that I will switch back to a coupe for the next car. I'll let the new M4 coupe release and soak and see if it grows on me.

Anyone else in the same situation? The F98 was basically a science experiment to me... Can I live with an SAV? Sure but I would rather a coupe.

Small chance our M340i lease could be replaced by G82 AWD but damn is it big and ugly. I had an M235i for a while and really liked that size but the G20 is the better car now. Next gen M240 (M245?) will hopefully be great.

I'm still too happy with my F97 to consider anything else replacing that but only 6500 miles in and it does have its quirks.

Even from before the lease of my F97, which was the lease replacement of my F80, the G80 has been the planned next lease after the F97. Though things can change between now and the next 30-ish months, jumping back into another M3 makes sense for me, especially after having owned 3 generations of them.

My wife has expressed enjoyment of the F97, so we might end up keeping it and I would still get the G80....but we shall see how the front of it evolves or how much it grows on me too LOL.

I had a 340i as a loaner whilst they did the safety recall work. Ugly car. I didn't like the new digital dash and prefer the one in our X4MC. I will also struggle with a 'car' as I like the higher seat position. I've become used to it and wouldn't change it. Besides, I think this car does the lot, seamlessly.

I don't miss my F80 and that was a big surprise. The practicality and performance of my F97 has me not looking back. Perhaps in the future when I can have second "weekend" car.

Thinking about going to a pure. Not a huge fan of the ZF8, but also strongly considering a GT p-car.

That’s an interesting point about going to a pure because of the ZF8. I like the ZF8 for the F97 because of its overall design and purpose as a vehicle, but I do miss attributes of the DCT from the F80

I really want the 2021 RS3 hatch. It’s going to be awesome.

If the wagon miraculously shows up, I'll switch in a second. Otherwise pretty happy in the x3m. Part of me really wants a wagon, so maybe a e63s would be an option.

If they would widebody that damn car or the current generation RS3 it would be such an amazing vehicle. Nothing sounds as good as the 5 pot aside from large displacement exotics and even then they're just louder. I could barely squeeze 245/35/19 tires on that car. Such a shame

Highly doubt it. I'll likely be moving to an Audi E-Tron GT after the X3M...

Ya, 265/35/18. And it's a really tight fit and only with the right offset wheels. That car has so much potential, but Audi makes it pedestrian and puts a bunch of effort into the higher models. A shame since it's the shining star in a sea of boring cars.

At the front only? Remember they run wider tyres at the FRONT!

255/30R19 front
235/35R19 rear

I'd expect you could go up to 265/30R19 at the front easily but probably not at the rear.

You're correct that the rear is the problem hence my issue with the no wide body. They slapped on slightly wider front fenders and kept the rear the same. It's a front drive car that can throw power to the rear when necessary. But man, put it on corn and it will blow the doors off most cars.

SO GLAD I did not wait for G8x. It's the first M3 that I do not lust over and in fact I have no desire for it. So many things wrong with it IMO. Of course it will be fast and brilliantly capable, but many design elements and the size are just yuck for an M3. The M2 is the sport coupe to get if sticking with BMW.

I'll be honest. I really love the BMW M SUVs and I think they are brilliant vehicles. I'm less fascinated by the current lineup of BMW sport sedans and coupes - I think some of the European competitors have more attractive offerings in their lineups.

I'll definitely consider the M3 Competition Touring in the UK when it launches, but I'm more inclined back to an AMG to enjoy some V8 music before they disappear for ever (in the UK).

The new cars are surprisingly heavy, I was surprised that they are 1730kg up 160kg and that's for the RWD cars only. The xDrives will probably be another 100kg which is only 200kg off the X3M.
