I read online this was possible, and found the part via a forum member.
Install was super easy, popped off the trim with the vent and pulled the radio/ac unit out 2 plugs, and plugged the new unit in. Works perfectly and was plug and play. The Passenger Fan button and Passenger Auto button do not do anything, since the X3 is a single fan.

Not sure part # since it is a Frankenstein part almost. Got the part locally from forum member Igor_M5 awesome seller and easy to deal with, 100% recommend. He's currently sourcing more if anyone is interested!!

That's nice.

I think, you should be able to code it to work.

EDIT: Nevermind, even coding won't work since X3/X4 only have 1 fan blower.

Looks awesome. How are you finding the soft buttons as opposed to hard buttons?

I’m old school and like to press buttons but the XM3 ones are too small not to take my eyes off the road to find them.

It's for sure a learning curve. There is no feedback when pushing the button lol.

Hm....I`m thinking that G11/G12 will also fit? You replaced just the controls without the plastic frame right?

Does this add any additional functionality or is it for aesthetics only?

Having RHD in the UK would that mean the fan buttons to the right would work?

Have my eye on the inner part only. Assuming it will work.

That link has the ceramic controls. Unless you plan on changing everything else that's available in ceramic to match this is going to look odd in your interior. Just my opinion...

Just did the same mod but a little bit different. I bought the unit from a 2017 7 series with the silver buttons. I initially thought it would be plug and play like the rest but the mounting points and face plate were slightly different so I had to remove both the upper CD slot and climate controls from the 7 series face plate and snap them into the stock faceplate. Very happy with how it looks with the silver buttons.
