275/40/19 front tire?

Has anyone on the X3 forums run a 275 square setup? I fondly remember an X1 race setup with a 275 up front. What is the consensus on fitment? I'm highly considering taking my mesh wheels off my coupe and running a square 275 all around.

Thanks for any input.

Any change in overall tire diameter? I've been thinking about getting a set of taller A/T tires. But, i've read that the iDrive cannot take a difference of more than few % change in overall diameter.

I was thinking of running 4 rear sizes , which would be the same overall diameter .( 275/40/19. )
I'm concerned about hitting the strut or turning clearances. I may be okay with it sticking out a bit.

I think the overall percentage difference is in tire size side to side and front to back. If all 4 were a side wall size 40 originally and you wanted a 45 or 50, it would be okay. Another guy put on 255/50/19 all around. Therefore 255 is wider and 50 is taller. Looks great and I would have done the same if I could have found the same hyper black wheels.

That's my understanding as well. As long as all 4 tires/tyres are the same overall diameter there shouldn't be a problem with iDrive or the transfer case. I've been running slightly oversized tyres (~ 2% oversize) since new in 2011 without any issues.

I think the only problem with running a "square" setup with 275/40/19 up front as well is potentially tyre rub when turning because of the increased width of the front tyres.

So I went home for lunch and swapped the rear to the front. What I found is that the rear rim size 9-1/2 et48 did not hit the strut , but instead the sidewall of the 275 tire did make contact with the strut.

Offset spacers? Or a wheel with less positive offset.

I don't drive like a grandma so , you know, I probably need to prepare for a safer installation. I thought about spacers as well but I really want it to just work on its own.
But installation may not be tonight. It depends if I feel like jacking both up at the same time.

So I just decided I wanted to screw with it before bed.

A 10" wide wheel et38 cleared the strut with a good amount with a 275/35/19 tire.

Hello. Just saw this post and not sure if it’s still active. I am trying to figure out the wheel spec to go with. I am also interested on doing a 275/40/19x10 ET38. Just wondering if you used a spacer on yours. Also if there is a clearance issue like rubbing on the inner front fenders when on full lock turn.

Thanks in advance. I hope you can still give me advice on this.
