2021 i7 Harmon Kardon RAM module Technic Harness
I bought a Technic harness "Add a sub" for the RAM module 2021 X3M (build date 2/14/21).
Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to use the harness. I do understand it is simply plug-play; however, with this harness from Technic I also purchased his pre-wired LOC option (Wavtech) and perhaps this is throwing me. Could anyone explain the middle connections of the harness to me? Huge thanks - |

In the pics below:
First pic) is this the Technic harness set-up used for adding an external sub (and sub-amp) to the existing RAM-module Harmon-Kardon stereo, leaving the under-seat BMW subs as-is? Second pic) is this the same set-up above (external sub/sub-amp), only this time, the option is to add an additional external amp to the two under-seat BMW/HK 8" woofers? For now, I would like to keep the booster module powering the original HK-branded subs under the seats. Perhaps that booster module is under-powering those two under-seat subs, I don't know. Perhaps in powering those subs with an external amp, they need to be swapped out with 8" subs that can handle more power?? The reason for the Technic harness is I want to merely add deep bass to the existing HK RAM-module stereo by buying a.) the dual-8" active-powered "Microsub+" box from JL Audio, or b.) re-use my existing JL Audio 8W7 Prowedge box with the Slash 250/1 sub amp (both discontinued by JL Audio, but in perfect condition). |

See picture 2 in the above post. You'll want to wire it as you show in your first picture. Unplug the stock harness from the RAM module, use the middle plug (shown in your first picture) to replace where the stock harness was, then plug the stock harness into the large plug pictured on the right of your picture. At least I'm pretty sure anyway! And if you can't figure it out, contact the company tomorrow. They're great with helping out. I circled some things for you in the attached picture. Red - plugs into the Wavtech LOC Blue - Plugs into the RAM module Yellow - Leave connected as such if you are not adding an amp. If you are adding an amp, that's when you'd use the other set of wires to the right. Green - Plug the stock "harness/plug" that was originally plugged into the RAM here. |
