Recommendation - Who is the best car delivery company / service here in US... ?

I live here in California on the West Coast & have located a super clean 2020 X3 M Competition on the East Coast. Therefore, who would you fellas recommend for me to use to ship this car over... ? Preferably in an enclosed trailer as I only want the very best for my new baby.

I used Montway Auto Transport twice for cross country moves from MD > CA and then CA > VA. Both times I used the enclosed transport which wasn't much more at all.

https://www.montway.com

I highly recommend them.

Here's what you need to know though:

- the date that they schedule the initial pickup is just an estimate, not a guarantee. Same with delivery but that's easier for them to predict once they are en route to you. For pickup factor in +-3 days from the date you initially pick out (example, you select Wednesday, they say they have a driver for pickup on Monday as you get closer to pickup date).

Delivery should be about 3-4 days after pickup. The reason is all to do with truck routes and availability. They usually have two drivers and take turns driving nonstop.

If you're having a dealer or private seller sell the car to you and arrange for them to meet the driver, it's less of an issue. It was very stressful for me though trying to time them picking up my car before I stepped on a plane for good leaving my former state behind. Plan with a few days buffer.

Someone MUST be there for pickup and delivery to authorize. Plan accordingly.

- there are less trucks on the road doing enclosed transport, thus availability for pickup/delivery is harder than open transport. But for a car this nice it's not worth open transport, especially this time of year crossing winter weather en route.

Thank you for the recommendation here Rob. I'll look into them & get an estimate. They look like a very legit company & they're very good at what they do.

Intercity Lines is often cited as one of the more high-end, reputable enclosed carriers. I've not had experience with Intercity, but have had a couple experiences with Plycar transporting my F80 during some work relocations a couple years ago. They were also fantastic.

Congrats on the purchase

Intercity lines is my preferred shipper.
While shopping for a shipper, always ask if your car is being transported “door to door on one truck without unloading and re-loading for consolidation”

Good luck

Thank you man. I like the 2020 version the most. "Door to door on one truck" (just like you said) sounds like the absolute best possible way to ship a car. Reducing the chances for any funny business or damages while en route. I will certainly ask this when I gather my quote from Intercity Lines.

Would Intercity Lines charge me less if it's a California car and being transferred / shipped to another city in the same state just a few hundred miles away (about 550) instead of shipping a car from the middle of the country... ?

I'm assuming there's a flat rate charge minimum and not sure if it's per mile based as well.

Probably depends on their routes and how close drivers are etc
A rough estimate seems to be ~750$ for an open transport and ~$1000 for an enclosed trailer (both as 'rush service', subtract ~150-250 for longer lead times) , this is an estimate for San Diego to Campbell/CA

I greatly appreciate your help & that sound relatively reasonable. Considering we all pay $995 to have these cars shipped from the production facility to the dealerships when brand new.

I would only use Intercity Lines, highly respected in the auto community (and used by Jay Leno too!).

I used them in 2016 to transport my Benz from Cali to Indiana. Door to Door pickup and drop off, fully enclosed/covered transport with extra precautions taken to protect car, and I could even pack my car with things that I wanted to move. I also received updates from the driver during the journey. It was perfect tbh.

I used Intercity Lines to ship my M3 from the Bay Area to Eastern PA this summer, $2,300. Unlike Montway and some of the others, Intercity owns and operates their own trucks. You can still find a great transporter with a broker company like Montway, but I didn't want to gamble.

I recently used Intercity to ship my 2021 X4M Comp from NY to Florida. Have used them on prior occasions. No problems what so ever.

I use a guy who owns his own rig out of Chicago, name is George and his rig is legit AF. Used him for my YMB M4 from LA to Kentucky. His # is +1 (773) 308-6462. Call him and leave a VM or text him. transport@unlimitedcarcarrier.com
