It sounds reasonable, I just was curious to know how you know this. It's not mentioned anywhere in the technical docs.
It's like that for any M car. The active sound piped in really masks the sound of the exhaust which makes it hard to tell when the valves are open or not from within the cabin. If you disabled active sound you would be able to hear the exhaust MUCH more clearly and it would become obvious when the valves were open or closed.
I have ASD disables. On my F80 they were always fully open in sport plus, you'll could see the valve if you looked down the pipes.
Well you must have had an anomaly because it's certainly not that way on my F80 or any others I have seen.

Again, its gearing and throttle input dependent (on top of engine mode). So if you are sitting still and hit the sport+ button then yes the valves will fully open and you can even see it as you mentioned. But once you start driving and shift up through gears 4,5, etc the valves will generally close unless you are full throttle or close to it. Again using my highway example, the valves will be closed if you are cruising in top gear. Have you ever had a valve controller on the F80? That's the easiest way to tell the difference. Once you have driven in a car with the valves open 100% of the time it becomes more obvious how much they actually close under oem operation.

Anyway, not trying to argue here just saying that while the valves are open more often in sport/sport+ they are not open 100% of the time in any situation.
Engine Setting / Exhaust Button / ASD / Valves
Comfort / Off / Off / Closed
Comfort / On / On / Closed
Sport / Off / Off / Open
Sport / On / On / Open
Sport+ / Off / Off / Open
Sport+ / On / On / Open

Agreed. I didn't mean they were always open in Sport+, but certainly more frequently.

I can't imagine driving the car with the exhaust valves closed or ASD on now.

Had them both disabled for over 1000 miles and it's so much better.

I may change that post BM3, but currently much happier. As the exhaust is getting mileage it seems that on startup at least I'm getting the odd crack which is nice, but would be nice to get them on the move.

Yeah - anytime I put the fuse back in to take it into the dealers the ASD drives me nuts. Its sooooo loud.

In terms of exhaust, I've now mapped M1 to be Sport+ Engine, Sport Suspension, D2 for when I want more exhaust noise and fun. M2 is the same but with Sport steering and S3. This way, I can still run the exhaust closed when cruising in efficient on motorway.

You don't need to, you can just disable ASD via Bimmercode.

Done exactly the same as you but RIS Friday so will have to crawl underneath to plug them back in.

Got the ends to fit to the male and female ends of the connectors but will no doubt just pull both the fuses as you mentioned.

Hi zero when you say s3 do you mean drive logic 3?

Just wondering as I can't see a DS mode for gearbox but assume when you fill the 3 bars it's the same.

Can this be saved form the red M1/2 Modes?

Hi guys just a few questions.

That aliexpress part is that to protect the electrical contacts when breaking the Connection?

Instead can I do the same (sport plus and blip throttle) and pull fuse 203?

I've coded off ASD does the exhaust button do anything now?

Will the car be too loud and noises on the motorway - will the flaps close?

Thanks

You have S3/2/1 D3/2/1 these can be set into the M1 or M2 buttons.

Hi wills thanks when I put the shifter to the right I get d and right again seems to up the drivelogic. I never see an S in the Digital dash?
Edit Oops I guess S is sequential - I was used to seeing DS ie sport gearbox on older cars and M for manual on the Audi . I guess this has the drivelogic setup to boot

Will do the same after RIS but if you pull fuse I suspect the same thing has to be done ie sport plus and rev it

D = auto
S = manual

The scale 1-2-3 is shift speed and gear shift strategy related, which you control with the button on top of the lever. Although the box is a ZF8 auto they have kept the set up they had with MDCT in terms of the shift lever pattern and control functions.

You can set the gears to D1 to 3 or S1 to 3 in the M Setup. S is manual, D is auto. And yes, it is the 3 bars.

Today after the RIS I pulled Fuse 203 and 218 and can confirm the ASD is off permanently and the exhaust valves have stayed open. ( I pulled the fuse knowing the exhaust flaps were open - before starting the engine when cold)

It emphasises how much the ASD actually puts through the speakers but it's a natural sound now and what I want.

I don't hear a drone at all when at motorway speeds so I'd say it's fine.

Weather has been rancid today so couldn't even put my toe down after the RIS :
