1) wanted to run 265f, 285r tires so had to run reg and plus. pretty much same tires and tread patterns

2) when I had my M3 and M4 vert, I had dedicated winter wheels and tires that were swapped back and forth with performance wheels and tires. these were RWD so winter tires were a must. X3M is AWD so didn't want another set of wheels and tires to swap back and forth again. all-season will be plenty grippy with AWD in snow. don't plan to track her so just fine with less performance without the hassle of swapping twice a year

I absolutely love the ride, want an X3M real bad. I do agree with others, tint, spacers, and yellow brakes don't constitute a build, but whatever... If this is the case, then I have a build in my X3 as well.... Color matched reflectors, spacers, upsized wheels/tires and tint. 🤣

It's all good though, congrats on the new truck, enjoy it! 👍🏻

Looks good. I have a feeling 10-12mm would fit a tad better than the 15s

Xpel does wonder I got a side swap at parking lot, it end up damage the XPEL but absolutely nothing on the actual paint

Anyway, is the performance effected at all when spacers are used? Ride quality? Other...?

Wheel spacers were originally designed to allow for fitment of different width wheels onto the same hub. By utilizing a wheel with a different depth to the barrel, this can allow a wider wheel to fit under the fender, and when fitting a wider wheel, a wider tire is able to be fitted as well. The primary idea of using a spacer is that it allows one to retain as much of the same wheel and tire geometry as possible while increasing fire contact patch.

With BMWs it is important to use hub centric spacers, and typically most people avoid spacers larger than 20mm as this typically requires longer wheel lugs or wheel studs.

If utilizing spacers for racing wheels, Switching to wheel studs are quite common. Utilizing very wide spacers with the original lug bolts can cause additional stress on the hubs.

While originally designed for *performance* benefits as above , many owners in the BMW tuner world simply use them for " style " to enhance the looks by making a wider stance.

Mounting wider tires on the same wheels would actually provide more of a performance benefit - along with the looks - , however adding spacers alone is a cheap method of providing an aesthetic look without also incurring the expense of wider tires or the expense of custom wider wheel and tire combos.

Adding spacers simply for aesthetics as a way to widen the track does change the vehicle suspension geometry and can cause premature tire wear and other negative effects, particularly over time.

Whether one is seeking a performance or an aesthetic benefit, using a well matched wheel and tire combo that bolts up directly is always preferred.

Ride looks great.
Just saw an X4M Comp yesterday run a 152 mph 1/2 mile, pretty damn impressive with these new engines.

265/40 front and 285/40 rear is over 3% difference in rolling diameter between front and rear.

What happened to needing to keep it under 1% to prevent damaging the xDrive transfer case?

Very clean mods, looks great!! You kept a great balance to improve an already badass looking car, and those calipers are the perfect pop. I'm also glad you left the OEM finish in the wheels, keeps it clean. First time I'm seeing the back reflectors done on a g01. I was contemplating doing it myself but I'm kind of liking them original now seeing them. Feel like it gives too much attention to the tails. Thanks for sharing and for the added pics. Keep us looped in as you continue to mod!

I had Opticoat on my previous ride. Every year, newer and better coatings come out. IGL coating is one of the newer ones.

Nice.

What makes you decide with white indicator instead of red indicator?

I am going to install the red indicator one today and waiting for AutoTecknic to have the prototype steering wheel trim soon.
