X3M or Giulia Quad?

Hey Gents - former 2020 X3M owner here who is considering coming back to the fold. I sold my 2020 when we moved across the country a few years ago, but now I'm ready for something new.

After vacillating back and forth between a bunch of different options, I've narrowed things to the X3M Comp and the Giulia Quad. Two vastly different machines I know, but familiarity (and the LCI) brings me back to the X3M while being a looong time M3 person brings me to the Quad (no thanks on the G8x front end).

I already have a 2022 Giulia Quad lined up for about a 10% discount and free shipping to my door, which is pretty damn good. That said, I also have an X3M lined up with a broker at MSRP.

Would you guys go back to the X3M for another round with the sweet LCI or give the Quad a whirl with that crazy Ferrari engine? I know there will obviously be some implicit bias here, but I've been on these forums forever, so I value the opinions here.

The X3M is a great car, but I don't think it's something I would want to own twice.

I'd definitely be on the side of switching it up and trying something new

I’d be very leery of the reliability of anything Alfa. No doubt a bonkers driving experience but so is the X3M with a lot less concern about whether it will leave you stranded

I went from a 2020 X3M to a 2022 X3M and I will say the interior was a big upgrade for me in terms of feeling more luxurious.

10% off in this market is great, but I don't know if that would concern me when the others are charging MSRP or 5-15k over.

If you like the Alfa and are comfortable with potential issues that are out there then I say give something new a shot.

Tough one. Can't go wrong either way honestly. What kind of X3M build are you looking at?

I agree. What was the last Alfa that did not have major issues? Pass. I’m not saying the X3 MC is the best compact luxury SUV out there. I never even considered the Alpha. Maybe it’s just my age but Alfa has always a bad reputation in my opinion.

Sounds silly but I won't buy another car without a heads up display.

My buddy had his Quad Nring bought back because of engine issues. Very common. I know they added port injection on the new motors, but he had nothing but issues with that car.

Very seriously considered the Alfa Quad before the X4MC, had one picked out and just about to put the deposit down, but the Alfa rep for problems made me not pull the trigger.

The Alfa looks great and sound incredible, but I have absolutely no regrets at all about my X4MC!!

Are you a fan of the Dodge Journey? Hope so, because you'll be driving that as a loaner half the time whilst the Alfa is in for service.

Recommend checking Consumer Reports before making a decision. In April 2022 edition, in luxury small SUV segment, Stelvio Ti got overall score of 51, compared to BMW X3 xDrive 30i score of 81 (assuming 100 is perfect score). Out of 29 luxury small SUVs, the BMW X3 ranked 26th overall (near the top) vs 5th from the bottom for the Stelvio. BMW reliability and owner satisfaction were 3 and 3 respectively (5 being best) and Stelvio was 1 and 3. I know these aren't the exact models you're considering but it gives you an idea. I was considering a Stelvio Quad myself but Alfa reliability was a potential issue and the X3MC was quicker. I think BMW has much better tech also.
