See pic for the brackets. There is no info on real OEM which suggests they are a separate part, so if you buy new you should get them.

It's clear some used sellers are not including these brackets, hence why its important to ensure you ask that they are included when buying used.

I took my 2021 out while instructing for the regional BMW group at VIR earlier this year. Other than a flush with SRF, the stock brakes performed flawlessly.

Sure, I wasn't braking as hard or as deep as I do in my 2018 Z06 Z07 with AP Racing brakes & slicks, but I was duly impressed & had no problems with fade or modulation after 20+ minute sessions on Full Course (140+ MPH braking zones on the front & back straights). Full is not as hard on the brakes as North or Grand Courses, but still works the brakes very hard.

EBC sent me a set of Yellow comopound front pads off the M5 or M7 (can't remember which) to try, but they are still in the box.

What track & config did you cook the OEM brakes on so quickly?
I think you highlighted the difference comparing how you drive your X3M vs the ZO6.
I'm no pro driver, you are probably a lot more skilled than me, but I was driving my X3M time attack style, trying to get the absolute fastest lap possible.
No hybrid pads (like EBC yellow or blue) hold up to this type of driving in my experience.
Few cars can be driven like this for more than a few laps unless properly setup, but the X3M was a bit worse than I expected, given it's an "M" car.
In the context of it being a 2000kg SUV, sure its amazing, but I wasn't assessing it vs other SUVs.
We also shouldn't forget my car over 700hp with the E70 tune (running 0-60mph in 2.75 seconds).

Regardless, the M5 brakes and ducting have transformed the car, with that and Cup 2 tyres I can do 3-4 laps at full tilt after warming up. The speed I am lapping for all three of these laps would have had me 2nd out of 20 cars in a recent time attack event here.

This guy (who won the time attack) laps just over a second faster than me on his fastest lap, so you can get an idea of my pace from this.

Note, he is hitting 200kph on the back straight, I am at 210kph, so obviously the M2 is cornering a little harder.

Thank you for the help Ben. I greatly appreciate it & I know I see exactly what you're saying. I'll order a brand new set & ask them to take photos as confirmation before they ship them out.

Now the only question is, should I get the F90 M5 pads or the G80 M3/M4 pads. What do you think would better for a street driven X3 M Competition... ?

No worries at all.

Re the pads, I have no experience with the M3 pads but I am VERY impressed with the pads supplied with the M5. The X3M and M5 are actually very similar in terms of weight, so that makes it a good match too.

I was thinking the very same thing. The G80 M3 is substantially lighter than the X3 M is. So the F90 M5 pads would most likely be a far better match in terms of friction level and overall compound.

Does anyone know if the carbon rotors will fit on our trucks? M5 carbon brakes on our 4200+ lb truck might help with fade. 🙃🙃

I think you mean carbon ceramic... Right? I believe they probably would since the F90 M5 rotor is the same size.

Yeah there we go had a brain fart had a lot going on when I wrote that. Do you think it would be a little over kill (overbuild instead of rebuilding is motto).

BulkBen The good news is - these brand new F90 M5 calipers arrived today & I have 90 days to return them for a full refund (if I really need to). The bad news is - these factory fresh OEM units shipped directly from BMW didn't come supplied with any mounting brackets like we thought they might. So... how am I going to find and/or source these brackets... ?

Can you please take a photo of these brackets so I can get the part number on them??

Apparently the M5 calipers bolt to an M5 directly, so no brackets are required and supplied by BMW. But the X5 M (which also uses this same 6 pot caliper) does not bolt on directly. Therefore it does have this bracket supplied that you can't find or purchase separately. Therefore the X5 M will have a different part number for these awesome calipers.

See post #358 for visual proof of identical calipers. I'll do more research on this tomorrow... https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...736329&page=22

I should have the current gen X5 M calipers in my hands in just a few days to check for fitment & corresponding brackets. Haven't forgotten about this by any means & stay posted for updates shortly!

Hi Kevin, I've been absent from the forum for some time but I purchased used calipers deliberately to avoid these issues.

That said, the seller advertised them as M5 calipers - and not from an X5M, there was certainly no indication at the time that one was supplied with brackets and one was not.

Hope you get your situation sorted, I haven't checked real OEM, but I assume with the X5M they actually show a bracket as part of the assembly?

No worries mate. I saw that you had left for a while. Glad that you're back now. The brand new F90 M5 calipers straight from the factory do NOT come with the calipers. So the X5 M from the current generation are the only way to get the right calipers brand new that are truly plug & play.

I found out the hard way that this was the case. I'll post a new thread soon with my findings & some nice photos. Just been too tired to do that. The good news is we found out how to do it & these M5 brake pads are huge...

It has been confirmed. All you guys need to buy are the X5M calipers & the corresponding break pads + 4 main bolts. That's it --- ALL PARTS LISTED HERE. The X3M & the X5M even share the same exact rotors. These are essentially the same exact calipers that the F90 M5 & G80 M3 use. But for those cars it mounts to that knuckle / lower strut arm assembly directly. The X5 M calipers however are the only units that come include with the correct Brembo brackets (comes included & mounted with the brand new calipers) to make it all work.

YOUR WELCOME FELLAS...

X5 M calipers: 34108074303
34108074304

X5 M brake pads: 34108746107 (these are also used on the M5 & M8)

Torx screw w/washer: 34106864424 (x4)
(main bolts)

Thanks man! I see a bunch of vendors listing the brake pads as discontinued. Any idea why?

These OEM units are used by the M5, M8 & X5 M. So they shouldn't have that status. Which vendors are you referring to... ?

Hopefully soon. There have been too many other fires to put out first. Certainly haven't forgotten about this cool upgrade. With the current supply chain issues parts are taking forever to ship out right now. The right caliper was chipped (took 3-4 weeks to arrive), then ordered a new one & they sent my returned one back. Now I'm sitting on that unit before they send it's replacement out. Should "FINALLY" have it to go with the left caliper in just a few days.
