800 mile road trip in 3 days,,,,

4 states. 3 days. 800 miles. Road construction, etc. etc. Decent quick test for the X3MC.

Low end torque was soooo bad Kia's kept taking my money at stop lights. Ride was sooo brutal I kept stopping for Chiropractors on every corner. Couldn't pass a gasoline station because, well, you know....

NOT !

X3MC did a great job. Never felt tired. Rolls out hard. Would buy it again. Even though I REALLY loved my old X5M, I have to admit, this overall package is better. Average Interstate mpg was around 23. Peaked at 24.5 in some one hour stretches. 16ish country with some stop and go. No complaints here.

Thanks for a "realistic" perspective. Looks like you're having so much fun with yours. I can't wait until mine gets here. I was at the dinner table tonight with my 18 year old daughter who is also a speed freak (wonder where she gets that from?), and at one point, I just hung my head and sighed, "I'm tired of waiting. I want the new X3." It's been almost 6 months since my M40i was stolen and totaled. I'm tired of this Clio rental and ready to upgrade to a proper M car......these last 2 weeks are dragging out slowly while others are already dragging their new rides.

I don't know, man. Yesterday I lost to a Kia Optima while doing a quick drag race near the school zone. This car should not be losing to Kia's.

Time to sell and get a Stinger as that's the best car money can now buy.

So I was finally able to test drive an X3M over the weekend and i feel like your assessments have been the best I've read/watched so far.

All the talk about low end torque and back-breaking ride had me a little concerned, but after spending a good amount of time behind the wheel i'm actually dumbfounded that people had those opinions to begin with. It's genuinely perplexing.

Anyways, gonna pull the trigger on an x3mc later this week.

The ride quality is perfectly fine. However, there is definitely major turbo lag from idle to about 2500RPM. Not an opinion, those are facts. Almost every reviewer mentions this as well. It is quite noticeable and it is frustrating if you are coming from owning very quick cars off the line. I came from an Audi TTRS that flew off the line and also going to be taking delivery of my Model 3 Performance (instant torque). It's all different perspectives and experience's.

The X3MC feels amazing and it is growing on me daily. The car is mental quick from a roll. In the correct gear there is ZERO lag. However, from a dead standstill or very low speed roll on, it takes a few seconds to get going and that can be frustrating if you're used to cars that instantly respond.

Also, having driven the GLC63S, Alfa QF, Jeep TrackHawk it was the biggest downfall of the X3MC, IMO. During my dealer test drive I did not notice it. Hopefully a tune will fix this.

Obviously Fact for you at 6000-8000ft DA. Not Fact for me at 3700ft DA. I have gotten out of my 991.2 Turbo S and into the X3M. Zero low end issues. I’ve measured the Turbo S at 2.4 seconds 0-60mph.....so a decent frame of reference.

haha okay, if you say so

You keep clinging to the DA/altitude being my culprit for lag. I have already explained that is not the case at all. There have been plenty of members here and multiple reviews of the car online that state, no low end torque and lag from a dig.

I am sure more and more people will chime in as they take delivery.

I'd love to see a Dragy test withOUT LC, to prove just how bad it needs a 2.5 second "boost up" in order to take off without hesitation.

You are not satisfied. I am. We can not change each other’s mind. It’s a perspective.

Don't take it personal. I do love the car and I am very satisfied. That is just my unbiased experience and I am sure others will chime in on this moving forward.

I need to do my own testing with the Dragy (as no 1/4 mile drag strips here) and I will compare 0-60's with and without Launch Control.

We’re good. Cars are a fun hobby. I traded in a 3 month old X5 50i M Sport for an X5M because “I” was not enjoying it. It’s all relative.

LOL, you almost had me with your intro! I’m at the point where I’m going to tell anyone who asks about the ride or lag to just buy a Stelvio! I’d rather not see my same car all over town anyway.

I must admit though, I’m a little jealous/perplexed by your MPG’s. I’m averaging 15 MPG for the full 1,650 or so miles I’ve put the car. I don’t care about the money, but it’s a short range at that level (~250).

I guess I should reset my trip counters and see what I’m getting today. I’m pretty easy going in the city, but get me in the mountain twisties and my foot gets heavy.... This “truck” is stupid fun!

No doubt she'll drink at wot. I set my main MPG display to reset every morning so I don't track my wot encounters on a rolling average.

Thanks for sharing your initial impressions. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have been enjoying mine.

One thing - you didn't mention if you taped a pillow to your head. How did you survive with out this? Real readers are dying to know.

Great review.
Next week I will revisit the test drive at UDE.
I hope they have X3MC.
