I'm talking out of my ass here, but I can guarantee you the front camera is fixed.

ASD coded off and engine sound to maximum/sporty is the way to go IMO. Wouldn't run anything else.
Wait is this true? I figured the “engine sound” setting in my 2020 M40i pertained only to ASD. I pulled fuse 203 (it starts super loud ) and set the “engine sound” setting in iDrive to “reduced” to keep it comfortable on the highway, and hadn’t bothered coding ASD off as I figured the “reduced” setting did the trick. If “engine sound” pertains to more than just ASD, I’ll definitely just code it off and change the “engine sound” setting in iDrive. Can anyone confirm?

For 2020 engine sound setting can affect ASD and the exterior exhaust flap.

I am also a 100% sure that the front camera is fixed, that's why I believe that the movement is inside the casing. I have also made another observation today - it seems that this only works at a standstill or at a very low speed (less than 5kmph, may be).

Ah ok. So if I’ve pulled fuse 203 while both flaps are open, effectively keeping the exhaust flap permanently open, ASD only effects fake engine noise.

The camera does not move. Nor does it move behind the lens. It's the software choosing what to display on the screen when backing. It is a very wide angle lens and can see almost 180* so it just pulls it the direction your backing to give you more sight in that direction.

If you think about this explanation it just makes sense. Think about the fact that they show you the bird's eye view when parking--to do that, they stitch together images to give you the top down view (not very well, IMO). Compared to that, using software to replicate the movement of the lens is trivial.

That's plausible. Even I was surprised that having motors doe such a thing would be an overkill but your explanation makes perfect sense.

When you use remote unlock through the app, the mirrors swing out and the turn indicators flash as normal. However if you then use remote lock the doors lock, but the mirrors don’t fold back and there’s no flash from the indicators. You need to press the physical remote lock button to get the mirrors to fold. Odd.

Yea the engine control on your idrive can make the exhaust sound louder even after you pulled the fuse. I noticed the exhaust produce less airflow after setting the engine sound to reduced, so I suspect the valve can be controlled by the engine sound setting. I have mine set at sport with fuse pulled, it sounds natural and amazing

I was able to code the comfort access to close all windows and sunroof with the remote via BimmerCode. It would be nice to be able to unlock this UK feature via coding... anyone done it?

I had an odd, somewhat esoteric issue with my iD7 X4. My Preset list is mostly SiriusXM stations and I add and delete presets directly from the SiriusXM station list. As many of you may know, SiriusXM has specialty stations that they rotate every couple of months. One of my presets was one of those stations, 30-Prince. Recently, SiriusXM changed that station to 30-DMB (Dave Matthews Band). When that happened in my old iD6 vehicles, my Preset list would still display 30-Prince, but it would tune in 30-DMB. Makes sense, since it was simply tuning in channel 30, no matter what its name was. But iD7 doesn’t work that way.

After the station changed to 30-DMB, when I tried to tune to what was displayed in the Preset list as 30-Prince, nothing happened. No tuning change was made. So I figured I needed to delete the old 30-Prince preset and add a new 30-DMB preset. But here’s the kicker – when I went to the SiriusXM station list to delete the 30-Prince preset, it wasn’t there (which of course makes sense – only 30-DMB was listed). I could add 30-DMB, but I couldn’t delete 30-Prince from the Preset list. Crazy.

So I did the unthinkable . . . I drove to my local dealer and talked to a Genius. He was a young, cool guy who immediately understood the issue but didn’t know how to fix it. We went out to the car, and he found something neither of us knew. When in the Preset list, you can highlight a station and press the Option button to the rear of the iDrive controller. A menu box will pop up and there’s an option to delete the highlighted station. And that’s how I finally managed to delete the SiriusXM station that no longer exists on SiriusXM.

Wait, you can code in the moonroof to be included in the automatically closing windows button? This might convince me to get bimmercode. I've accidentally left my moonroof open so many times...

Yes, it's easy. I've done it several times. Get it!

Am I the only one that read the manual? Perhaps it was ordering and then having to wait many weeks.. where all I could do was pore over the manual and scour the Nets for videos.

Even with out ordering and having to wait. I always read the car manuals. True, 95% of the options / operations are as expected.. but there is that 5% that is new and interesting.

Probably.

I always used to read the manual cover to cover but they've become novels and I've found there's lot of nuance that just isn't covered in the manual or not covered clearly. Also, I learned a long time ago in the software business that users always know the product better than anyone else.

Concept
The manual sucks.

General Information
It's poorly written and doesn't conform to the way people learn to execute stuff.
It's organized in such a way as to bore you out of reading further, to the thing you're trying to figure out.
Many solutions could probably be expressed in the form of a single declarative sentence rather than within some strange and irrational template.

Functional Requirements
More patience than I've got.
