Might be obvious to others, but I've only recently discovered that you don't need to have specced 493 - Extended Storage from the factory; in order to fit an OEM luggage net.
You still get the hooks in the back without extended storage, and then luggage net part 51479410838 fits nicely.

I discovered that there is a button on the end of the turn signal stick that changes the display

Besides changing the display if you push and hold down I believe it also resets the trip odometer although to me it is easier to just push the nearly invisible black button on the lower left of the instrument cluster.

.... that the dashboard display shows a distance countdown to the next speed limit change or, in economy mode, the next roundabout etc.
I've just been using the HUD which doesn't show the countdowns .... |

Two things I discovered.
1. The hifi switches off after you open the door, but if you have a passenger, then the person who opens the door second switches the hifi off. 2. Auto wipers stays on from start. My old F30 you had to press a button at the start of each journey. Always told it was because if the wipers were stuck because of ice couldn’t be done. Then they come up with this. No wipe on ignition on. Cool.

Not really a part where the BMW logo / interior colour matching is needed either. Och well, next time.

If stopped, and ASS is active (engine off), and something happens that requires engine, or that soon will require engine, it will turn on again. Well known.
But what I didn't know was, that it takes Pressing the PDC button as "soon we need the engine" activity. What I already knew was, that it looks at the car in front, and start engine then it is starting to move; that it never shut down the engine if the steering wheel is turned a bit (and indicator is on?!), like if in the middle of some manoveur, and .. well, some more activities, right? I have a vague memory there was quite an advanced chapter in the Training guide about this, and that it might actually get updated with newer i-steps of the car.

Until I read it here recently, I didn't know that the lane departure warning function remembers it last setting, so I don't have to turn it on as part of my start driving drill. Now, if they would only do the same with ACC car lengths setting and headlight high beam auto dimming.
I'm less happy to have read here that the rain-sensitive wipers will be engaged on start up if they were switched on when the car was last stopped. Is this correct? If so, it seems like a bad idea. Just because it was raining yesterday doesn't mean that it is this morning.

Of many things I would like to be able to set in iDrive, or have last use the default, or have saved in driver profile, this would be a very low priority for me, and it could even have unfortunate consequences (such as a visit to a car wash).

Mine doesn't and I'm not aware of a setting in iDrive or BimmerCode that sets it or makes it remember the last ACC car length setting. How did you do it? Or is it country specific?
