Angry HUD dropping position

As I'm taller and have my seat at the lowest setting, I have to adjust my HUD higher up to be able to see it. Well a couple of times already (car is 3 months old), I have had to re-adjust the HUD position as it has suddenly dropped below where it is viewable again when I enter the car. Anyone else experience this issue where the HUD loses it's position setting??

Just to make sure as well, this is on the same profile? For example sometimes the profile starts as guest or a second profile and the HUD display may be in a different position than your profiles saved position. Just a thought. I've never had this issue personally on my HUD.

Yep... this is occurring on the same profile.

It's funny I actually had to just readjust mine last week! I was wondering if I hit something by mistake. My car is newer as well. Got it in November.

Your not alone, it has happened twice in the six months I have had the car, when checking it seemed to change from my profile to my wife's, so I had no problem resetting, my wife said that she had not driven it or played around with the settings

If it changes depending on the profile selected, I guess I can understand. But in my car, there’s only one profile (mine) and it has changed a few times.

2019 X3 HUD Position Does Not Hold

2019 X3 30i with HUD mine does the same thing, I'm shorter, tried to raise it's position but it drops back down to the lowest position right away. I just let it go and live with it as it isn't terrible or un-workable.

its old, common problem with bmws. Not just HUD but randomly forgetting mirrors or seats or radio stations or HUD set up.

I for once never noticed this behavior. MY18. It was never updated by the dealer.

With a bug in another auto manufacturer's infotainment system the dealer observed the bug, reported it to the factory rep, The factory rep came to the dealership to see the issue for himself, reported it to factory technical engineering, and was told there was going to be a software release in 90 days that would resolve the issue. After waiting 150 days, was now told by the factory rep that "it's not a bug but a characteristic".

Sad but true...

Athough you have only one profile, you have to assign that profile to every key you use with the car. It has happened to me, but only when I have used a key without any profile assigned.
For example, I got my new Activity Key last Saturday, and the first time I have used it, I had to assign my profile to it so HUD, mirrors and everything were set automatically to the right position.

Had same issue on my X5, solved by moving the position to a higher level on the HUD. Apparently was a bug in that particular setting.

For me, it happened in my profile. I’ve been using the same key since the beginning. Even my keycard is linked to the same profile. I had that issue till a while back.

I think that must be it. I did change the HUD to a slightly higher level for my wife a while back and it hasn’t dropped ever since.

I have noticed mine definitely dropping also. It’s now on the highest setting, but still just visible. I have my seat at it lowest position, but 6ft tall. I think anyone shorter wouldn’t be able to see it at all. No one else ever drives my car so it can’t be a profile thing.

It happened to me twice, but I found I was using the second key to unlock the car. As long as I've stuck with my main key it's not done it since.

The position of the HUD is also controlled by the memory seat. Make sure when you have the HUD positioned where you like it that you save it to your number one or number two seat memory, whichever you use
