Has anyone seen a car magazine or a proper youtube car channel review of the car? I’ve had mine for more than 3 months now and the only tests I’ve seen are two Norwegian newspaper reviews.
Interesting why there are no more reviews. Not sure how these things work but it feels like a choice BMW has made by themselves not arrange events or push for reviews. Covid-19 crisis can of course impact but it feels they had plenty of time before the outbreak. Last edited by NordicX3; 04-30-2020 at 01:42 PM.. |

Thanks for the article. It seems that the consensus is pretty much the same in the Swedish Teknikens Värld and Finnish Teknavi tests as it is here in the forum where pros are the drivetrain, that the car is generally very quiet and generally high X3 comfort level while the cons are reduced boot space & high price(incl extras).
Funny thing is that the the Finnish newspaper got 40km(25miles) pure electric range while the Swedish got 45km(28miles). The official number according to the much stricter new European WLTP standard promises between 41km to 46km range so it not that much off based on the tests. Interesting what causes the discrepancy between the American EPA standard (17miles = ~27km)? I’ve not tested the range in such way but, based on my driving past 3 months, my gut feeling is somewhere between WLTP and EPA. Haven’t been focusing so much on smooth economic driving though. At least the new European standard feel more realistic for this car as the previous VERY optimistic NEDC standard was for all hybrid cars. |

When Teknikens Värld tested the 530e xDrive end of 2019 they only got 39,7 km electric range, probably lower temperature.
What confuses me is the petrol consumption in the actual review of the X3 30e of 10.8 liters on 10 km without any electric assistance. That’s much higher than my experience so far which is around 8.0, what is the general experience in this group? Will be interesting to see the review in Auto, Motor & Sport Sweden next Thursday, will be a comparision between X3, GLC and Q5 all in hybrid versions. Mine shows around 36km range with full battery at around 10 degrees Celsius in temperature, and according to my measurements that's pretty much what I get. My driving is mostly within city limits , where there are a lot of traffic lights, average speed around 30km/h. My average petrol consumption, when battery is zero, has also been pretty high at 10l/100km, but that is due to cold engine and short distances.
I'd be very interested to hear more about the test results from Auto, Motor & Sport when it is published. |

The conclusion of the test was that it’s a tight run between the 3, they are all high level cars with high prices.
The Q5 won the race with X3 second and GLC third. The Q5 was concidered to a better conversion to hybrid than the others with not that high base on the boot space, more powerful engine and smoother run. X3 was better in Infotainment and interior sound level. GLC had the best interior space, brake feeling and gearbox. Q5 and GLC also got an extra point for the onboard charger capable of 7,2 kW. Fuel consumption was almost equal for X3 and Q5 with 38,7 respectively 39,5 km electric range at + 1 degree C. GLC was 31,5 km. Petrol only was 8,2, 8,4 respectively 8,8 l/100 km. All in all a tight run which opens up for personal preferences. Last edited by borgward57; 05-17-2020 at 03:44 AM.. |

My conclusion was the absolute opposite: the X3 won by a mile. Overall road feel of the Q5 feels much bigger, less nimble and steering feel is absent. If you're used to rear wheel drive, the X3 just feels like a sportier SUV. Power delivery of the 30e engine felt more engaging. Interior quality is far superior in the BMW (yup, you read that right) Didn't like the way to change different driving modes in the Audi. I don't remember exactly what bugged me, but I think you had to keep pushing a single button over and over to switch between modes (no dedicated buttons to engage a specific drive mode). Much preferred the exterior of the X3 (personal of course) No idea if it's because I'm a BMW guy (6th in a row), but I didn't even hesitate... Wife had the same conclusion. |

But for me Q5 was never an option. I think in many ways the car lacks “soul” and feels very sterile. That goes for the driving feel and interior & exterior looks. Also the infotainment is not even close the level of BMWs. When it comes to the results of the AMS test, agree to comments above. One thing to notice is that the actual Q5 seemed very well equipped with lots of extras vs BMW X3 which was more standard equipped. Did not notice any comparison between the test car prices however so I don't know how big difference there was. But for example, the Q5 was equipped with air suspension, which costs quite a lot, while X3 was without EDC. So it was of course not a surprise that Q5 got positive reviews of the suspension for example. |

I agree with the above test and comments - it is a close tie and matter of personal taste and what feature is important to you. I haven't driven the new CLC, but Q5 was ok to drive (it had steel springs). X3 and GLC are much better looking and better quality interior.
I have been very happy with my 30e, but I hate the elevated floor of the luggage space. |

I also find the test results pretty much as expected, the biggest surprise is perhaps the low range they got with the MB.
I've been very happy with mine. It took a bit of getting used to, the 330d was rough, responsive and fast, whereas the hybrid is quite, comfortable and, well not so fast. I like the infotainment, but find that the digital dash is almost useless to me as I have the HUD. I play my music using the center display and I have the speed and ACC info on the HUD, so I rarely even look at the digital dash. Compared to my last car I like the panoramic roof on this one, it brings so much light in. The boot space is small for the size of the car, it's about the same as in my previous 3-series. I don't usually carry a lot of stuff, so it's not a big issue for me. |

Sorry if this raised above but I searched to no avail. How does the XtraBoost function work? Does it even exist? Does it make acceleration really awesome, or just a little more?

Well, at least if you activate the sport mode it should be available. Not sure if it is available all the time if you just floor it. Not being sure of how it works is related to the fact that it's just "little more" like you said, not awesome like your 40d.

Upon pickup my SA told me that it is indeed available at all time upon "kickdown". It also helps fill the gaps between upshifts, which is rather cool.

So, I took delivery of my X3 30e on Thursday.
It's Carbon Black - White leather. I'll post pictures once I've had time to properly detail the car. Only did leather protection and glass sealants for the time being. I was wondering whether anyone did or is considering engine tunes? I have an appointment mid July, as I want to get some miles on it first, but expect +140 HP and 250nm, I believe. I don't find the car as-is slow, so should be interesting. |

Hi guys
I own 2014 BMW 328D here in the US. I am looking to upgrade and X30e caught my eyes. I am fan of my 328D because of mileage I get it from her ~40 MPG. Could anyone from you shed some light on mileage you getting out of your X30e? Thanks Prashant |

Just took delivery today, was a little concerned about the combined mpg, but on a 25 miles drive home from dealership, mixed highway and city driving got a combined 49 mpg. not too bad in a 100F degree day.
the raised trunk floor does seem reduced some cargo volume, especially on the heights. |
